+1 Anti-vibe stem with Pappy's chrome PC..:)

Also I learned a VERY easy way to loosen up the 400ex's steering. After having the stem mounted up, with nothing attached to it, no tierods, handlebars, steering dampner, etc. After I tightening the top bushing i noticed the stem was alot harder to turn.

To fix this i put to lock washers in between the 2 mounting brackets that were about the size of a penny 1 on each side. I tightened the brackets back up very snug and the stem had at least 40% more ease in turning. And the stem had NO freeplay do to the washers in between the brackets...very snug. I was absolutely amazed at the difference. So next time ya think about it, see if it helps your steering. I know the PC pappy laid on there was nice and thick and probably has something to do with it being tighter but this trick is a big plus in my book..

H&ll yea. I did that with my dale. All that I had to do was drill a hole through the bushing so that it would actually get in between the bushin and stem. Worked pretty good but the dale stem clamp is alot thicker.

i know this is a good trick, but why are you loosening the steering, only to install a dampner? isnt that just backwards? :blah:

Less friction anywere is good. Yes it sounds bassackward but it does make things better. I run MX and XC..so MX it's cranked all the way to it's softest and XC it's almost to it's hardest..this easier turning now will be great on the MX track.
