ya i thought it was a 86-87 when i first looked at the motor... 88-89 had black bottom ends... then i looked at the motor mount, so it couldnt of been an 86... not bad eh ;)
looks great tho, that motor sure is clean

And also the 86/87 had the vin number stamped on a tab welded to the left side of the subframe down tube...by where the rear resivor mounts......
88/89 had the numbers stamped in the cross bar where the front shocks mount to the frame,,,,,,similar to the 400ex....the earlier years R had the same bar going across but it was a different style......
Good looking R by the way..

I was thinking of getting the new yammi,,,,but have given it serious thought and i have decided to locate another R when the time is right and build it up............just incase anybody was wondering:macho

chris you already have enough modded out 250rs...
i say you get a decent 250r and make it bone stock... like restore the entire thing (i recondmend a 88-89)
man that would be so sweet... :eek2:

Also the 86-87's footpegs mounted differently than the 88-89's.
And very nice R btw.I just got my swingarm mounted again tonight.I am waiting for the UPS man to show up.I ordered new 20/6/10 razr mx's on douglas .190's,and new 18/10/8 razr mx's.Also a new herman racing billet bearing carrier.I just replaced the swingarm pivot bearings and pivot bolt.(68 dollar bolt)I have a linkage rebuild kit on order. There backordered though.I just need new front wheel bearings and seals and the rolling chassis will be done again.
Then I have order 800 dollars worth of bottom end parts:(
It's all in the name of the R though. It will be worth it the first time I ride my baby after 2 years of being broke.

True.......the 86/87 bolted to the frame in a manner as on the 400ex..........the 88/89 mounted to a tab welded to the frame so consequently the rear brake pedal mounts differently.

plastics = white, silver, yellow, or orange (to go good with the blue a-arms).
blue and yellow would be killer (and different)!

The frame is silvervein 2k2 300ex.
I never thought about yellow plastics. That would look good if it was a bright yellow like the Z's plastic. I thought about orange though. The bushings on my A arms are orange and it looks good against that blue.
