I was wondering how many people ride with twist throttles? My thumb cramps up so bad with the thumb throttle so I decided to buy a twist throttle. I have rode dirt bikes for a long time and think I will like the twist better on my 400. Some people think they are dangerous but I don't see why. It is just something you have to get used to.

hey, i have a twist on my 01' that i just bought that i dont want. would anyone wanna trade with a little $$. i would say this twist (its MINT) is worth 25 so i would trade someone (ill throw in some cash) for their thumb throttle and cable. let me know, email preferrably. zlam27@hotmail.com

thanks guys, i hope someone is willing to trade. i didnt grow up on bikes, but it didnt take long to get somewhat used to the twist. they are fun, but i want a thumb personally.

I can't stand the thumb throttle for long rides. My thumb gets cramped up and I have to use the palm of my hand just to keep going.

i dont like twist throtle on quads. on a dirtbike when u turn the bike leans with u so the throtle does too, but on a quad it seams like when i turn and lean mu body the quad stas flat so i seem to give it more gas when i dont want too. i only had it on a day and swithed back. i probly could have got use to it but i didnt give it a chance

I see most people using Motion Pro twist throttles.

Ya, I knew Motion Pro seemed to be the BRAND of choice but I know there are different ratios and stuff of them and was just wondering if one worked better for quads then the next. Like how much turn = full throttle is a good choice for a 400ex?

I know a guy who hade a twist thotle and one day he was doing a wheelie in third gear.......well i guess he leaned back a little too far and ended up giving it too much gas, he flipped it backwards going about 35-40 mph. i would stick with the thumb throtle.

I have the Motion pro turbo and I love it. Some people like them others don't, it's rider prefrence. I just think if you really know how to ride then you will get used to the twist throtle no problem. I can ride faster with my twist throtle than I could with my thumb throtle.

For those that ride with the thumb throttle, there's one thing that i've found that is well worth the money. Thats the Thumb Saver. It's a little gaudy looking but for around 13 bucks, it'll save from cramping and it's a heck of alot more comfortable.

I installed a MP twist the first day I got the bike. Yeah, I'm one of the ex-dirtbiker's. I thought the thumb deal was from snowmobile / watercraft world.

The only issue is when your zooming over bumps, holding an absolute steady feed is tricky, your hand blips with the bumps. This makes for interesting control that maybe the thumb guys don't experiance. A 1/4 turn throttle would increase this effect and may be best for racing as overgrip (moving your hand position up) is not needed.

i got a pro motion twister on mine, took a while to get used to , but now it seems as though i can ride faster with it, and also my thumb does not cramp up on the long rides.
