Hey guys my clutch cable is completely frayed. Can anyone explain and post pics of how this perch and lever combo should look with the cable installed? I know it was probably my fault because of the install. I need to know because I'm prepping for next weekend's race. Thanks ahead of time.

I've had this problem with other E-Z pull levers thats why I have a Magura Hyd. unit now.

What usually causes the fraying is the the slot in the adjuster is lined up with the cable so that the cable is being pulled back and forthe in the slot and the sharp edges cut it. When you adjust the lever turn the slot in the adjuster toward the front before you lock down the nut.

Also make sure the cable comes straight out of the perch. If the cable comes to the perch at an angle, the cable will rub inside on the ends of the sleeve and fray. You can use some zip ties to try to get the cable to come in straight. I have went through several cables and perches trying to find something that would work without fraying. I honestly can't remember what kind of perch I have now, but I bought the heavy duty Motion Pro cable, and it is still in great shape, no fraying. It is noticable larger than the standard cable.

I've got it in the easy pull slot. Pics would be appreciated I'm picking up my new cable tomorrow. I guess I'll throw on an old cable and lube it up real good that way I still have my new one to fall back on.

I got an Emgo which is pretty much the same thing but it doesn't have a rubber grip on the lever.
Its a pain in the *** to adjust! especially with my handguards.
It also doesn't like to stay adjusted very long so I tend to do all my adjusting near the motor.
I bought a new cable to same time as the lever so I wouldn't have any troubles since I knew about easy pull levers eating cables.

I don't think so :p At least in my experience, Emgo levers stink bad. The clamps seem to be made of cheapo potmetal or something. My friend's just snapped in half when tightening it. The ones I've had in the past never lasted very long either. The MSR Raptor I just got is MUCH higher quality than the Emgo levers I have used... maybe they make something decent, but I haven't seen it.
