A friend of mine makes stainless steel skids for the 400's. They're 3/16" thick 304 stainless steel. If you're not worried about the added weight of stainless versus aluminum, these are practically bulletproof. He sells them for $120.

I have one on my 300 and it doesn't have a scratch or ding on it. We have not been able to tear one up yet. The group of us that ride together are kinda his R&D team. He builds it, we try to break it. He sells what works, changes whatever we are able to break. If you're interested, let me know.

Pro Tec hands down. It is alittle expensive but you get what you pay for. It makes my PRM skids look like alumnium foil. I think I would crack my swingarm before I broke it. Also the welds are a work of art !

Either the prm or the pro tec. I have the prm and it is great. I only had allittle trouble getting it on and it gives great protection. I woud get the stainless steel if i had to do it over again.

Thanks for the replies. Talked with sales at magic racing today, he said alot of the more serious riders are buying the OMF rear skid. never heard of that brand, he said is was real good

If you ride around Zanesville, the APV area, or at Wayne it's the same places I ride. I have full length skids on mine, but I made them myself for minimal $$. You would probably be fine without them, but I'm more comfortable sliding over rocks and trees with the skid instead of my frame.

I got PRM skids and I love them. They really take a beating and they don't even have a dent in them!! I'm pretty sure I paid right around $300 for my A-arms, under belly, swing arm skids, and a PRM front bumper. Very easy install also. I put all those things on my bike in less than an hour.

I have the armadillo rear skid with the PRM belly skid and baja bumper. The armadillo skid is awesome and is thicker aluminum than most of them out there. It is .250 thick aluminum compared to the others that are only .190 thick. I got mine from Rocky Mountain ATV for $64.99. It has a couple xc races on it and a whole chit load of dice runs and trail rides on it with only minor scrapes. I definately recommend it. I have never tried any of the others mentioned but I know that this one is just plain awesome. And for only $65, ya can't beat it.

Another option for full lenght skids is the plastic ones. They're lighter than aluminum and hold up well. I think they're a little cheaper too.
