i was debating on stock bore with higher compression, 406, or 416. i am not wanting an all out race machine because 95% of my riding is racing friends or playing around. a cam will be going in but i don't know what one. how much heat will be added from the 416 to the stock bore? what will be the reliability differences? how much more heat? how much power differences? thanks

Don't waste your time or money on the 406.The 416 is a very reliable set up heat will not be noticed. This bore reacts very well with a pipe and a cam.I would also suggest a Hinson clutch basket for the extra abuse on the clutch.

yea go w/ the 416, around 11:1 comp, cam and pipe also

So, for a guy that likes to do all the work himself, I assume boring the cylinder is the only part of this job that requires paying someone else to do it? How much is the cylinder diameter actually increased with by going to a 416? I have an old cylinder hone from rebuilding car engines back in the day... would it be stupid to try and hone it out myself? I'm just not sure where I would take it around here... don't have much experience with the motorcycle engine rebuilder thing... although I would assume it's a pretty simple project for someone with the right tools.

I dont think that I would trust a hone to bore a cylinder. Im not saying it can't be done but if that was my bike I would just send the cylinder off or go to the closes bike shop.

I forgot to ask in my last message... privided I do find a place to bore the cylinder for me, what would be a reasonable price range? I think I saw someone paid 50 bucks... is that about right?

yep, somewhere around that range, probably wont find anyone to do it cheaper than 50 bucks though...

is 11:1 compression border line? just wondering because its hard to fine 93 octane around here. we have 92 but its generic gas. so you guys wouldn't recommend napa for example to bore or hone a cylinder wall? they can do that here and i was thinking it was definatly cheaper than $50.

Most any bike shop can either do it for you, or direct you somewhere to get it done.

Hey I just noticed you're in sactown too.. so do you really do woods racing? WHERE? I'd love to get into that... where do you usually ride around here? I spend quite a bit of time at Mammoth Bar, since I technically live in the Roseville/Granite Bay area and it's the closest place pretty much...
