HELP! How do I resize pics so they don' t take up 1,000,000 bytes?

Finally got a digital camera today but I can't post any pics because they take up too much memory. Its a new high resolution HP 812 digital camera. How do I alter the pics so they meet the byte limit in Microsoft photo editor or other program? Help a fellow exrider out who wants to post some more interesting threads with pics.

double left click on the pic, then when it goes into a view screen right click then click edit, this will bring to to paint,

while in paint go to image on the top bar and choose: stretch/skew then choose what percentage of the picture you want to show, 50% of the initial picture generally works for me
