I dont think it would be worth putting it in a 300 frame. You'd be better off getting a 400 and putting it in there. The suspension and whole geometry of the 400 a lot better than that 300 will ever be in my opinion

well i have a 400 frontend..i'll be gettin a 350x swingarm and axle before too long..plus i like the sqaure frame better than the round ones..plus i already have the 300 frame... and you hear about the 400's subframes bendin..soo what do yall think?

i was thinking that too...i don't think the xr500 motor would damage the 300 frame...and that would be awsome power and stuff...hmm idea... i know i could get a cheap xr500 motor too...:macho

I think the XR motor is taller than the EX motor so there would be a lot of fabricating to get it to work. Seems like I read where someone did that years ago and had to drop the bottom of the frame to get the head to clear the gas tank.

I think that would be a good idea and it would be fast.

I have an issue of dirt wheels where a member did this. Said he had to cut all of the old engine mounts and make new ones. He also said that it ran about 98 mph...:D And would eat modified raptors...

I have a friend who put a xr500 into a r chassis.Lots of fabbin' on the frame, had only one original frame rail left, the upper right was the only one not to be replaced.Brutal torque!!!

I was thinking this same thing, and wondered if anybody has since tried it?

I have an 82 XR500 that i've completely rebuilt, and just picked up a 95 300ex and was thinking it would be fun to swap motors between the two. I know it'll be a lot of work, but it'll be worth it when I stomp my buddies 89 250r  lol

i had a stock 86 250r motor in a 250x chassis and it was a handful i couldnt imagine a xr500

My buddies 89 250r can be handful when it hits the powerband, but my XR500 is a pretty smooth powerplant. It builds the power nice, no surprises. That's been my experience so far with 2 strokes vs. 4. I used to have a Tri-Z, and I put the motor into a Blaster chassis, and it scared the jeebus out of me. Way too much motor for that tiny vehicle.
