I am trying to decide whether I want to pick up a 4x4 utility quad (a Rubicon, Foreman, or Prairie 650) or a dirtbike (yz426f or yz250f). Guy tells me I am stupid for wanting a dirtbike but I just don't know :blah: He says I'll wreck so much that it won't ever be any fun. My old lady agrees with him lol. The dirtbike would be for trails only, no race tracks.

The pros for a utility quad are obvious - winter riding, mud, plowing snow, can still ride it with the old lady (while she is on her 300ex).

The pros for a dirtbike - fast fast fast. Cons - I will wreck alot, kick start is a bear on the two bikes I am looking at, can't ride with the old lady.

What do you guys think? :blah: Oh, and no I am not going sport quadless, this would be in addition to the sport quad and the Busa :)

Go for the prairie 650, those are great utility quads!!! and u definitely will like them on the trails better than a dirtbike.... the bike guys who have gone on my trails with me..... they couldnt keep up cuz their bike couldnt get through everything.... and then we have to be pullin out bikes........

I'd go with the 4x, but 1 thing to consider is transporting them. Not sure on what you use to pull them around with, but just food for thought.

I don't think my civic could pull 2 quads.:confused2

No biggie on pulling it - I've got a V6 Tacoma. It isn't a monster truck but I pulled 5 quads with it once with no problems. :)

wait for the new crf250f... it will be much better then the yzf250f...

i'd get the quad... if u ever tried to ride one of those bikes on a trail its hard... they are harder to ride also bc the 4stroke bikes are ususally 2 inches higher then a 2stroke...

i'd get the 4x4 the bikes are pretty much MX only;)

You should use my Yota Tundra V8 to haul quads  that thing is a beast

I get thro more on my bike then most quads around here besides the big time mudders and thats becuz mine clunks out sometimes:huh My dirtbike is great through deep mudd. I know it would out do a cannondale or your old 250x.

Well, I have ridden both many times. One thing I like about the 4x4 quad is you can stop and relax while sitting on it, or just putt around exploring, plus it can carry coolers for cold drinks and lunch on the racks. I rode my friends yz426 awhile back. It was fun to ride and all, but it just wore me out.
If I had a choice between the two, I would pick the utility quad hands down.
You cant go wrong with a Rancher or foreman. Rock solid dependability. For more power, a grizzly or a prairie, or the new honda quad, a Rincon
The IRS gives a better ride, but the straight axle on the prairie is better for sliding around corners, not that many people slide a 600 pound quad around corners that much though.:)

utility quads are soooo fun! buy the honda RINCON or the YAMAHA grizly.. definately the best two 4x4's on the market hands down. the praries got straight axle rear design. IRS all the way!

The Rincon is pretty sick

go with the 4x4. if you run into any mud holes on a bike you will most likely have to find a way around or walk it trhrough.

The tribe has spoken--a vast majority seem to agree with me and your fiance. A 4x4 utility quad would be much better for your needs. You're too old to be learning to ride a dirtbike (and be GOOD at it) to the point where you're not dumping it several times a ride. Dirtbike's are kick-*** but you're going to be trail riding it. If you went to a MX track every weekend than I'd whole-heartedly tell you to get a bike. But, you're going trail riding about as often as I do---once a month. That's not enough time to learn to ride it. Learning to ride a DB over logs, rocks, through mud, etc. is world's away from riding your Busa on a smooth, paved road. Go ahead and buy that 426. I want to see the pics of the cuts and bruises after your first afternoon with it in the woods...lmfao:D

We taking bets on how soon you'd have it sold to go buy a utility quad?

B@stard! I am younger than you! :cuss: If I do buy the bike I'll ride wheelies over your 400ex! :scary: I had a yz250 and only wrecked it once after 10+ rides :D

I rode a dirtbike 1 time, and I got 17 pins and 2 titanium plates in my wrist. And that was on the street.:ermm:

I owned a KX250. Thought it was cool until I tried riding it in the woods. After a summer of continually dumping it I figured it was enough for me.

Well guys, here are some pics from when Ben had his YZ250. This was on the same day about an hour apart. You tell me if he's up to the dirtbike challenge. Oh yeah, ignore the Chad Reed jersey. Ben has these fantansies about being a SX champ...weirdo:confused2

4x4 they rule. Most useful. Best for trails and general riding. Go anywhere and threw anything.

Your not allowed to buy any more Yamaha anyways BEN! :p jp, but 4x4 are awsome, I definately want a better, bigger one! Bikes are alright, but I definately prefer quads, I used to love bikes, but when I started riding a quad, I couldn't go back!
