Guess I'll share em with you guys too.

Most of the pics are at the hill (where most of the riders and nut cases gather). Lots of hams that wanted there pics taken. Took my old man along with me, and rode my trail quad.

Good weather, trails were in nice shape, but it gets really crowded by noon, and you have to be constantly looking out for oncomming traffic.

No accidents or injuries, so all in all it was a fun weekend.

Looks like you had fun! I went there for the first time last year during memorial day weekend. It was pretty cool. We set up some tents and camped just off one of the forest roads that lead right into bull gap. Your're right about the tight woods trails, they're just wide enough for a quad in some spots!! Also right about the oncoming traffic! There are always people going one way or another around there! But it's a blast while your there!:blah:

Always have fun up there:cool:

If you go at sun up, you can get lots of fast care free riding in. The funnest loop is from the hill to mckinly. Your street legal in town, so you can get gas, go to the bar and stores, ect on your bike or atv. Last time I went (to the bar) budlight was only 1.25 on tap:cool:

Thanks for the replies guys, I should have some atlanta and silver lake pics on here some time this summer.

To the michigan guys, have any of you tried kalkaska, or ogemaw yet? St. helens sucked, wasn't as much fun as bull gap. :ermm:

TheChknhwk
06-13-2003, 01:37 AM
I used to ride St. Hellen when I was a kid, there was a ski lodge there that burned down & you could ride up the ski hill & then jump off the foundation of the burnt down lodge. I prolly haven't ridden there in 13 years tho. I have never ridden kalkaska tho, have you??? I have ridden the south Atlanta trails the ones that are about 2 miles from the state park. They are ok, but not challenging & the map system they provide leads you to believe you can get to a town, but we could never find it. Umm...... there are some really cool spots in Atlanta where the trail is acually a series of wodden bridges over swamp. My dad's buddy says the really nice hilly trails are further north; we are going to have him show us sometime this summer:)

2000400EX
06-13-2003, 01:55 AM
I have not tried kalkaska or ogemaw yet either. I too ride the atlanta trails. I like them. Yeah, there map system IS a bit decieving. The trail actually does continue south into atlanta, but it is a marked snowmobile trail which they have gated off during summer time because it runs through private property. I could never figure out how to get into town myself until this past winter when I was up there riding my snowmobile and happened to stumble upon the trail that led into town. And as far as heading north on the trail system, that dead ends into a gated off snowmobile trail too, just outside of millersburg. The atlanta trail system isn't very big, but there are alot of places you can go exploring.

I was thinking about trying the trail system near traverse city, have any of you tried that?

86350x
06-13-2003, 02:25 AM
I've never tride either of those two, my mom and dad go on long horse back rides in cadillac, that must be the system your talking about. He said they looked ok, but didn't seem to have the fun elevation changes bull gap did. I'd like to find some more hard packed trails for my wr 426 dirt bike too. I don't like changing tires just for a weekend ride. That's why when I go to bull gap I always take an atv. Kalkaska is supposed to be just like bull gap. I have an invite to ride in the up late in july. The trail is supposed to lead right down to the lake. Can't wait for that one. Next time I go to a riding area I'll post in advance where I'm going and when. Keep me updated on these other systems if you get to try them.

I'm in the tip of the thumb, so all of these systems are a drive for me

if you keep refreshing your browser you can get them to work. bullgap is a fun place to ride, its fun to race people up the hill i cant wait to make my 400ex a 440. i go to atlanta and mio snowmobiling alot. michigan has some cool trails to ride on. Has anyone seen the hill in the Maltby hills area around south branch?? this hill from what i heard is called Elbow hill and it is much much more challanging than bull gap. it is blocked off but if you notice a old trail that is like the one your on but blocked off go around the road block and go down it and its pretty close. you can get on it from a county road too but there is a bunch of short steep hills, [that are fun to jump] . there from people dumping dirt on the trail to keep people out but they would just ride over them :p . if you go from the trail youll be fine just dont stay too long. this is all in the maltby hills area.

Image station sucks

Have been to south branch, but didn't see any real big hills:confused: :ermm:

Fixed it, I'll have to look for that area some time. Last time I went to south branch I got lost, and I thought the place sucked, probrably because of that. The trails were not marked worth a crap.

I had to drive up town illegaly to get gas, and they only had crappy 87, and I need to run at least premium in both my quads because they're built up.

And what the hell is a shiznitz?

Lol yup, still no icehouse. I haven't had much time to do any real traveling either with this wonderful new shift:rolleyes:

Ice house for my bday, that would be great:cool:

Was fun, the vacation day was worth it, it was just a bit dusty out.

Went on a monday, so we were the only riders. I only seen the trail groomer, boy scouts doing community service, and military recruits doing a training exercise of some sort in the middle of the woods:huh

This weekend I'm having people over for camping and riding here. (only 40 acres though:ermm: )

I don't know I heard it on ESPN; I'm just trying to be as cool as the other side of the pillow, lol.:blah: Get a Clark tank & you won't have to worry about getting lost;) About south branch, if that means Maltby Hills the trails there are the best in the system IMO. I want to ride A trail again from the Maltby hills parking area, there is a section on it with a sign that looks like /\/\ and says "most difficult" we bypassed it last time on our ride due to time restrictions.

Trail groomer, WTF, I have never seen one of those out there. Were they smoothing any of the whoops or what exactly were they doing?:huh I have been hoping they would groom some of those trails, maybe push some of the sand back to the top of bull gap & make it a challenging hill again.

86350x
07-31-2003, 08:00 PM
Just a small ford tractor pulling a big rake. He smoothed out all the trails around bull gap, and lazurne, some of the trails we rode on were new, not even used yet.

I don't think your ever gonna get the hill built back up. It gets really torn up on the (far) right side, and is hard to get up without sand paddles, mainly because it's getting so deep that you can actually frame out.

Racing at times can be pointless, because whoever has the left side is gonna win, Unless there is a huge difference in performance between machines, or someone is running paddles.

Some of the side hills can be tough, the only one I ever failed to make up once(have made it on a bike jumping off and bull doging it), is the one with a fallen tree across the top (I had to stop and couldn't fit underneath the tree) I'm gonna cut that sucker off before someone gets there bell rung.

I want full bore for my banshee, but then I won't be able to run an aftermarket tank. The thumpers all get good miledge.

yea that its sux they only sell 87, that gas station is like 5 mins from my cottage. we always get premium before we go to my cottage. Timbers has really good steak. other than that i liek the trails around south branch [maltby hills trails] if you have the map for the riding areas around there its really easy to fine your way around.

It doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to make it, can't get tommorow off, was gonna just take my thumper and go up by myself:(

Maybe next month i'll be able to make a weekend up there, the project should be done by then. Get some pics, and just to let you know, the groomer hit the Mckinly loop, and got some of the roots and stumps out of there, but also cut down the 2 pluss mile whoop section down a bit. I thought it was fun for side by side action, but alot of people hated them.:(

Please get some pics for some of us loser's that have to work (like me)

Another weird note, anyone else go up there after a holiday weekend and notice (aside from the beer cans) panties, and other articles of clothing, hanging on signs and tree branches in different parts of the loops:confused:

I won't be up in that area this weekend, but I am going to be there next weekend (19,20,21) in atlanta. Me and my buddy are going up to do some trail riding. If anyone else is going to be in that area then, let me know and maybe we can all get together for a group ride.

sorry didn't get any pics, left the camera at home:rolleyes: If my head wasn't attatched......we had a blast though, went out early, about 9, on saturday rode from mack lake to the hill, didn't see anybody so we headed north for a while, got back to the hill about noon, and kinda watched/made a few runs. It was a lot of fun! A couple of yzf or yfz 450's one with the airbox mod, pipe, and jetted smoked everything including piped banshee's, except a Ds650 Baja X. They traded wins, the hill was good on saturday with about 4 whoop creasts and then up the hill, sunday whoops half way up. Had my @$$ handed to me by a stock banshee, what can you expect from a 300ex? The only things that I finished in front of were other 300ex's, blasters, and a beat up warrior. Saw a suzuki 230 make it most of the way up. A couple 350x and 250r three wheelers, one 350x had some serious motor work done. Banshee's ate roost:devil: The kid trying to start it couldn't budge the kick starter. Lot's of fun, anybody who hasn't been there should go. We stayed at Mack Lake, got there on friday could pick any spot, but the place was full on saturday night.

Sorry for the long post but it was fun, does anybody know some spots where you can catch some air?

86350x
09-16-2003, 02:01 AM
Wish I coulda went:(

I was awake and busy all day today (again), then had to work 10hrs again. Now you know why I won't sell my 350x, but you have to admitt, when the big boy's are there, nothing can touch those big bore alchy running banshee's.

Left lane is always the way to go.................

I need to get some time to go up, seems like I can never do anything fun lately. I had to leave work early just to put the banshee together!

Hopefully you'll get to go, other then it being a bit cold, the sand is always packed down, and the trail are more empty. Makes for some faster riding, with less fear of a head on situation.

i know what you mean, i havent been up north but once this year, my cabin was supposed to be sold [i didnt even wanna bother going it means so much to me], but its not selling now so were keeping it which makes me really happy. i like riding when its a bit cool out, always makes a better ride then hot and dusty. i hear there's supposed to be snow flurries up north , maybe even where i am, MIO is 3 hours away and were getting temps in the 35's at night.

09-30-2003, 08:46 PM
That's cool that you have a place up there. Would be a good place for a weekend party spot.

Every where I've rode other then our 40 acres in mich is dusty. If you think bull gap is bad. Try st. helen's. That place sucks a big one. Better take along a spare air filter just for when the one on the quad gets tottaly clogged.

Mio is about 3.5 hrs for me.

Next time if you go to Mckinly stand up and wave when your on the bridge. Sometimes there will be hot chicks canoing, they will wave, and some of em will flash ya!

I'll have the digi cam ready in that area next summer.

09-30-2003, 09:27 PM
haha sounds cool. yea my 98 blaster blew up on the maltby trails area when it was real dusty and hot. i had a toomey pipe and silencer on it and im sure the extra rpm and having to ride the piss out of it didnt help. the dust's really not all that bad, that is only if your leading :D we should definatly get some people to get together up north sometime.

86350x
09-30-2003, 09:43 PM
Yeah, leading is the way to go, I'm usually nice and let my dad lead, me and my bro took turns following him through the tight suff, but would blow by him and race eachother through the open sections to the next stop sign.

I haven't ran a k/n up there yet, just uni foams. No motor failures for me thus far:confused:

Do you know what caused it? Deffinantly on the get together, Next year I will have more vacation days.:)

ZSK
09-30-2003, 11:15 PM
I run a k/n filter with no lid and the ole 300ex ran fine, went up there last weekend and burned up a roll of film.

This is directly off of the DNR's website:

ORV use is prohibited in public hunting areas during the November firearm deer season, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM, and 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, except for:

That's correct I knew the rule about the firearm deer season, I was just wondering if there was one for the archery, since it started Oct 1.

Sorry pics arent the greatest as usual my grammas digi camera sucks. the pics of elbow arent the greatest, i wanted to be fast and rip up the hill a few times and get out of there. the hill isnt hard. if the conditions of the sand are right i can make it up on my stock blaster, but its definatly more challenging than bull gap by far, the other hill that is all rocky and to the left is a hill ive never tried and just looks crazy. the hill the banshees coming down is called elbow, the pictures really dont do the justice. i have a video if someone can upload it ill send it to them. theres pics of the south branch parking lot and the campground around that area.

Cool, did you have to let some air out of the tires?

And cleanshave, the jump pics are from were Gladwin?

The only fun jump at bull gap used to be the takeoff ramp at the hill.Next time you guys are there dig a little bit on the right side by the tree's. They have a frame made of pipe underneath the sand. I miss the take off ramp jump, was alot of fun, and as soon as one person did it, everyone wanted a crack at it. It's too torn up and warn down now. Doesn't have a lip to it anymore

ZSK

Yeah the jump pic are from gladwin. On the right side of the takeoff you can jump it. I didn't know that there is a pipe underneith there.

10-20-2003, 01:32 PM
yea he had to let air out of the tires, my brothers zr2 will climb every hill at the silverlake sand dunes too. its a pretty impressive little truck :D

86350x
10-21-2003, 03:01 AM
I've only seen a few jeeps climb it, both of em had to let the air out of there tires. That is pretty cool, most full sized trucks can't even make it past the whoops.

I discovered the pipe frame, by dumping the clutch on my cr125. Almost did a 180 and fell on my butt. Saved her though, left some black marks on the pipe too.

Riding was good, the trails were nice and damp, but it was whooped all to hell from the sand being so wet. The Gap was whoops all the way to the top. Some jackass on a dirt bike almost hit me head on in the middle of a 100' straightaway. I could see a near miss around a corner or something, but this guy was just an idiot. I had a mind to grab him by the facemask & slip an uppercut in there. Other than that it was fun...... Although I drove all the way down 489 to the maltby hills parking because I had a bad feeling if I went somewhere else you would have been on here saying I didn't show up, so by the time I got there our bikes were covered in road grime. Just Murphy's law... Now that I'm done *****in' we had a good ride from Maltby to McKinley for a pop then to the Gap and back to Maltby. I am sore as hell tho....:blah:

Man do I know what you're talking about there. michigan rider and I started at the parking lot about 1/4 mile north of the pink store on m-33 at around 11. We rode from there to the hill rode around at the hill for a couple of hours then rode back got something to eat, filled up the wheelers, and rode back to the hill messed around there and came back. We pulled out of the parking lot at 8:15. The second ride there and back killed both of us. We were hussling to get back we weren't in the woods too late. About half throttle 5th gear on 300's. I didn't notice those whoops I was so tired. But all in all I had a good time. Helped a couple of city slickers that were having troubles with a kx125.

It wasn't that the guy wasn't nice, but I didn't ask, he was just a MORON. He almost hit me head on on a 100' straightaway when he should have clearly seen me well in advance & slowed down. Instead he did some frantic slide and almost lambasted me as I sat there half pulled off the trail.

11-10-2003, 07:09 PM
I'm not sure if I'm ready for snow yet, but the xlt is there and waiting.

That was cleanshave 300ex and michigan rider. Got to ride his 300ex with 400ex suspension, nice quad.

Let him take the built up warrior for a rip up the hill too.

There was the pictures of you beating the blaster too.

There was huge water holes everywhere and fallen tree's. My dad had a ball joint give out on his 87 warrior, he didn't get hurt or crash, but it was kind of scary. We had to tie it down into place with a rope, and he rode side saddle about 20 miles back to my truck. I'll post a pic of it later. Didn't have time to comment earlier, was just trying to get the pics up.

Was a fun trip, other then the cold temperatures.

I have a few more pics, gotta edit them later.

Adam202
11-10-2003, 08:10 PM
every year it seems like theres more and more fallen trees, every year i have to move small trees out of the way or make trails around them. sounds like it was a nice trip.

michigan rider
11-10-2003, 08:21 PM
cleanshave300ex had about the same problem, after seeing u there we when into town to get some lunch when he notice his front end was a little lose but we didnt think much about it. well on the way to the hill on the second ride it got worse, u could actually see the tire wobbling as we rode down the trail so we pulled over and were able to tighten it up pretty good. so we continued to the hill when it again came lose. so this time we tightened it as good as we could and took the key ring from my four wheeler key, we ran it though the cotter key hole and bent it around the nut and it didnt come lose the rest of the day.

it was crude but simple and effective and it was all we had

Yeah it was crude but it worked, and got me back and forth all right. I need to get some cotter pins to put in there or just put another nut like your dad said. As soon as I get those pictures developed and scanned I'll put them on. Thanks for letting ride the warrior up the hill 86350x. I like it. It's got a real strong engine but I couldn't get the front end up:confused: it's prolly just me. I did race a couple 400's up the hill. I got the jump on one and had him till about 3/4's then he passed me. Oh well. I had a fun trip and got wind burn on my face but deffinatetly worth it.

86350x
11-11-2003, 12:45 PM
Make sure you get it fixed right away, His new ball joints are on the way.

Didn't know you were having the same problems. Next time michigan rider will have to take it for a spin too. It's got a long wheel base, and it's set up to stay planted, I like to sit forward and stand up alon when riding, that's why I have mcgrath bend renthals on there.

I want some aftermarket suspension after riding your's though.

Here's the shee I didn't take, and dad's riged up warrior. It sould be fixed by next week.

I picked up all the moveable tree's on the way to mckinly, not sure if you noticed that or not.

If you want to see what an open class 2 stroke is like, you'll have to take the shee for a ride.http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid87/p5b9849ca4e73466d0a8b967135f71488/fa959f90.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid87/p4f8f3c32b60383f9ed159718f8616b52/fa959c18.jpg

It wasn't the ball joint. My left tie rod end (by the steering stem) kept coming loose. It was probably riding on the pavement when we went up town or the 1/4 mile wheelie over the bridge, but that was after we got back from town and started to the hill the second time. I stopped and cleared a couple trees off the trail too they were laying across the trail and somebody could have gotten hurt if the hit them just right. It would be awesome to take the shee up the hill, just make sure to let me know ahead of time so I can pack an extra pair of underwear:blah: I'm sure I'll need them if I crack that thing open.:D

11-11-2003, 07:05 PM
Lol!

Won't be until next year now, but I'll let ya know.

If you went with a super trapp or white bro's exhaust, and maybe a different piston and cam, you would smoke those 400's to the top of the hill, your already close.

The warrior was a wheely machine until I geared it for some more top speed, I went through gears way to quick after all the internal motor work. But the pipe itself made a big difference.

I'd pick up a new tie rod, that's not something you want to have come apart on you.

Mom likes her 200sx, so we need to get her some new plastic, and stock sized tires for it. Looks pretty hoopty right now.

The gov't gets pissed when 14 year old ride raptors what do you think they'd do if they caught me? The rear shock is about useless, the pipe was brazed by michigan rider after my bro and I blew a hole in it. That's the 2nd set of tires the first ones lasted 15 years:eek2: :eek2: the rear fenders are cracked pretty good and it needs a rebuild. The good thing is..........it will actually keep up with the 300ex up too top speed. I'm thinking about putting the engine in a 250x or 300ex chassis but that will probably never happen.

Quit spending so much money at deja vu and fix it up a bit:p j/k

Doesn't sound too bad to me, just needs a rear shock revalve then, I'll try to get a pic of the one mark used to have, it seemed just as fast as the 84 200x he used to have. Had alot of nice stuff on it (reverse ect), the suspension was decent. My strikers will probrably last until I'm dead. We all used to have 3 wheelers, dad had a 1980 atc 185 with no suspension. We rode everywhere up there, and never had problems climbing any hill we came across, the 350x has great suspension, and all kinds of power. Just hard to ride fast through off cambers and whoops.

Lol sounds like no one wants to go on a 3 wheeler ride. Balloon tires work better then radials ect in sand, and that's pretty much what all michigan trails consist of. I only ride my 350x about 1 time a month average anymore, but it always starts within 2 kicks.

It's not too bad I get about 3/4's the way across. The first time we were there a couple yfz 450's were clearing the base.:eek2:
michigan rider and I usually fill in some of the holes that get made on the approach and hit it. It'll sometimes get torn up by other people taking a different line through the area. We usually build up a lip and then work back. One of these times I'm going to take the polaris and a drag my dad and I made that would smooth it out in a hurry.

Does anybody know the directions to get to the parking lot right by the hill? I've been wondering for a while.

Go to the light in town, turn right at the hardware store.

Stay on that road and keep driving until you see a woden fence with a sign that says bull gap entrance.

Drive down that rode and don't stop. You'll come to a stop sign. Make a left and keep going down them sany roads until you come up to a red gate. Hang a right and drive through the gate. The rode goes directly to the hill.

This is about the bull gap hill I love the place I'd reccomend staying at Mack Lake campground if you don't mind rustic camping (site, outhouse, and firepit). You'll get either mud or dust, depending on the time of year. I think the southern most trail system is at Gladwin County ORV. It's 10-20 west of standish. Exit 190 on I-75 turn left (coming from the south) About 50 miles of trails not really challenging but the whoops go on forever. Good place to start I suggest maybe a day or 1/2 day there. No real place to camp but some people pull back in the trail and camp. From there Bull Gap is about 2 hours in an rv I think maybe a touch more. There are a lot of parking area's around the area if you don't mined riding to the hill, or you can park right at the hill. I've started at Mack Lake Campground (2 miles off the trail about 30-45 mins to the hill depending on how fast you hussle) Maltby Hills (tight technical trails, about a full tank on a 300ex to the hill and back and some playing around) Parking lot 1/4 North of the pink store on M-33 (again like maltby hills but more mud the pink store has gas) and Mckinley (nice parking lot my favorite route so far, street legal in town and can get gas, not that far from the hill). Some of the parking areas are hard to find if you don't know right where they're at. I would reccomend the Mckinley parking lot the most. Nice trail, Fairly easy to get to but you may have trouble backing an rv out of the place. Any more questions post them up I'll help the best I can and I'm sure anybody else will too.

I'll be sure to take the camera prolly burn up a roll of film like always, I'll try to get some more of the trails itself.

I got the pipe on Monday and had to hussle to get back to class that I found out I didn't have:mad: I rode it a little and can tell it's lean but it added a lot of puch down low without rejetting, I'm going to tear into it today when I get home having to take everything off the bars to get the plastic off the front I might put the full fenders back on what do you think:confused: ? Up one on the main and move the needle and maybe up on the pilot but that might be ok, and she'll be going strong. Love the new sound, almost like a built warrior:devil: sound anyways

I'd try 2 on the main, it's so freakin cold out now. Go no bigger then 1 on the pilot. I'd leave the cut fenders on there.

He pretty much covered it, bull gap is the funnest atv trail system i've been to. It's big enough that you don't see the same stuff over and over, and has a little bit of everything Hills, tight trails, open trails. SO far my favorite place to go riding.

Hey 86350x check this thread out for some works warrior I see fronts I don't know about the rear though Warrior part out (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80057&highlight=warrior) michigan rider and I went to just mainly see what was at the junkyard, next time we'll go I'll make sure to measure shock lengths and other stuff to see if it will work. I ended picking up a set of nerf bars for $20, and he got a six pack rack for $20.

I went up 2 sizes on the main (I'm up to a 132 from stock 122) I moved the needle one notch down, and left the pilot alone. The needle is going back today. It pulled hard on the bottom and screamed on top but the midrange (needle) would sputter and cough like the choke was on. I had to ride wierd, first second and third it pulled hard no matter what (always does) but 4th it wouldn't do much of and bottom of 5th it would pull right along. I had to ring it out in the first 3 gears skip 4th and run bottom of 5. Still able to scoot along decent.

My next post will have pictures:D

Hey great pics as usual, dad and I want to ride with you two next year. You could show us the way to shouth branch without getting lost. That was Mr slithers warrior the shocks are already gone. I'm trying to get some yfz 450 shocks, no takers so far though.

My warrior is the doughnut king, I can do them on almost any surface. But it's not the wheely machine your bikes are.

Get the filter cleaned, if it still has a miss the carb will most likely have to come apart. Never had that happen to me before. My dad's ran crappy like that when we went to lazurne. I think we got some ****ty gas though. I always fill mine up at home with a mix of race gas. He stopped at a no namer station and topped his off. It took about 3hrs of riding after we tore the carb apart in the parking lot for it to start running right. From now on we stick to the shell station in bay city, other then the station in mckinley.

150 thousand eh, those deja vu trips add up!

I have 114,000 on my silverado now. Make sure you check your tires, they always drop air pressure in the cold. I had my left rear down to 20 pounds:eek: I put em all at 36 last night.

3 wheelers

You need a rear shock and he needs a new frame, right?

Michigan rider, its way too cold out to be mooning people. Still lots of fallen trees up there I see. I also have a bull gap pics thread at bt. I can go bump it if you want to add these to it.

Lol, sounds like there's a rivelary going on. Don't loose faith in the new exhaust yet. Once you get everything in working order it will run alot better. Make sure you keep your air filters cleaned and your oil changed first.

Sounds like the hill was pretty hard packed. I got the tires n stuff on my 100, got to put a few laps in before work:cool:

When you guys get new tires, I'd go with 4 ply kenda klaws. I have them on the front of my warrior, they work good in the sand, are flatt resistent. And shouldn't power your machines down. I'm gonna bring my weight back down under 200lbs for some more drag racing next year. Will probrably throw a set of realators on the banshee. I pmed that andy guy and mickey dunlap on the stock yfz parts. They never answered, gonna keep checking ebay. Banshee shocks bolt right on a warrior, and I have seen banshee's with yfz shocks on em. They looked good, and helped alot.

It's just a friendly rivelary we like to bust each other's chops. I'll make fun of his wheeler cause it sounds like a bucket of bolts going down the trail and he'll make fun of me when I over on a wheelie, or get stuck. Both of which I usually accomplish on a riding trip. Didn't happen this time, the snow made wheelies close to impossible and the mud was frozen.

Yeah I have faith in the pipe, I just need to get the carb right, mainly the clip on the needle. Didn't get a chance to move it yesterday, thought studying for finals was the better choice, I know what was I thinking studying for finals? I need to do a little basic maitenence on the 300 which I'll try to do this weekend.

Realotors are decent tires, should work good on the shee. They have a shallow paddle look to them. I think my next set of tires will be 20" rears, and I'll get a good swingarm skid. I like razor's, but I was looking at klaws too. I don't know I got a lot of tread left so that's a while away.

Hey, might be getting some 450 shocks!

Holeshots suck in sand, I have xc's all the way around on the banshee, and it spins like a mofo. I can be in 5'th and it will still be spinning. I don't know if it's the motor work or what, but I want something that hooks up better.

Klaws would be better michigan tires then razars, rounder profile tires always work better up there. My sand hawks are better then my dad's all traks for hookup and flotation. I was also looking a klaws for the shee, but I might need some more aggresive rears for that bike.

Razors could be good tires though, never tried them. Just know holeshots aren't the best setup for sand.

Michigan riders tires were bald weren't they?

I'll have to check out michigan dirt slingers.com

I still haven't gotten any word back about the shocks:(

But I did find some (old) pictures and scan them this morning. Just have to get some time to edit and put them up.

Michigan rider should check the forsale section, there was a suspension (elkas), wheel, and tire packedge for sale.

Thanks:) Old scanned disposable camera pics though.

And CS300ex, did you ever get your 300 running right?

ZSK
12-15-2003, 07:49 AM
Yeah I got it running right. Took it out for a lap around the back yard half throttle the whole way, no sputtering or bogging. Came around a corner in 2nd pinned it shifted into 3rd let the clutch out and the front end came up. Scared the ***** out of me I almost fell off  I cleaned the filter (which I should have done a LONG time ago) move the clip back up one notch, it runs good now and has a mighty midrange, for a 300.

Thats good to hear

I was just out riding the warrior. There's about an inch to a half inch of snow on the ground, makes for some awesome doughnuts.

I think I need to have the suspension setup for a 220lb rider, xc setup. I keep bottoming the rear over the small bumps and jumps here. I'll probrably drop down about 15lbs, but the suspension needs to be alot stiffer. Runs great as always though.

You got the works already I thought you said that they would be a while, maybe not. I took the 300 out today in about 1-2 inches of snow. The tires were spinning in 2nd but the front end was up about 2ft. It was wierd. Everytime I grabbed a gear the tires started spinning even 4th to 5th. michigan rider won't be able to brag now.:D

12-15-2003, 03:41 PM
No don't have them yet, as soon as I get that certificate I will be ordering tripple rates without rezzies for the warrior.

I also was spinning most of the time through all 6 gears. You and michigan rider both go to the same colledge? He needs some tires for x-mass. I'm probrably not gonna be able to go up for that ride this weekend.

Got somef amily stuff going on.

No we don't go to the same college. I go to Baker in Owosso and he goes to Delta in Saginaw. He deffinately needs some tires. We're going to check out that junkyard in Mason probably after christmas some time. Maybe pick up a set of paddles just to play with. Is the junkyard in Mason worth checking out? I heard that it's bigger than the one in Mt. Pleasent.

I've never been to the one in mason, you could let me know what it's like though.

200 posts:eek2: this thread is pretty old.

Close Mike, 2279 for the bike+helmet,140 for front end, 75 for plastic, 115 for pipe, 10 for a main jet:mad: 36 for bars (special order that someone never picked up), 22 for hand guards (were a gift count them if you want), 20 for nerfs. Grand total: $2697 for a great trail quad that I would ride instead of a 400ex. (have to now:D )

I have about an extra 2000 in the warrior since I bought it.

About 1500 into the banshee. Both quads and all the motor work add ons ect, still cost less then a new 450 would.

Here's a few pictures from a ride we took today with a big group, around 20 riders total. Hooptybug and SPEED are riders from a different site.

michigan rider coming down (barely see him) that's what the hill looked like before most of the snow melted.

That looked like a blast, but I couldn't skip on my dad's birthday.

Any racing take place? Get to ride either of those 400's? That kfx looks sweet.

Any deep spots or water holes? How was the fallen tree factor?

ZSK
12-22-2003, 01:31 PM
That KFX is sweet!!! Both michigan rider and I took it for a rip up the hill. Cams, a full HMF, that thing was insane, a lot more than your warrior;) you might have to own one. I guess I can have the bragging rights for the races, I'd pull michigan rider by maybe 2 or 3 bike lengths. I can stay even with a 400ex to the top. No real water just when the snow melted a little slop but not bad. The fallen trees were normal, everywhere.

I would certainly hope so. I wish I could have went:(

Warrior is plenty fast for this slow guy, and I have a banshee for that racing stuff:D

I got that huevos 6 dvd today, I'm gonna watch it pretty quick here. How did that other 400 run? Now you machine is running like it should eh?

ZSK
12-22-2003, 08:47 PM
The only other 400 was the ex. It ran good as far as I know. The guy had a recently broken colar bone but he said he felt fine. There was 3 basic groups of riders slow, medium, fast. The 3 of us ran the fast (you can see us waiting), we were about 15 mins ahead of the medium riders, a couple of beartrackers, the 400ex and a 250ex maybe one more I can't remember I think a kodiak, and the slow group was 15 mins behind them most utes. One person had a arcticcat 650 out there looked nice and sounded like a street bike running up the hill. There's a trip being planned for the 3rd you should join us it was a blast this weekend except for michigan rider losing MY gas can twice (ask him about that:D ) tell your dad happy birthday for me and plan to come on the next one.

I thought h6 was a good film. All of the extra's are awesome. Ice racing and cross country were my favorites.

Dad's been kinda bummed out, not sure if you know what he does for a living. He was in the paper last week. Long story, he hasn't been in the mood to go riding at all. I think I have to work the third, but I have all of this week off. My stuff should be comming soon now, will have to see how much of a difference the shocks make.

There is one guy from a different sight I'd rather not ride with, I think he has a big mouth that needs to be shut. To not make a scene I'll stay out of the rides he's planning on going to.

Like I told chknhawk, my 40acres is open to any of you guys that would like to ride here. But I think I'm gonna have to miss this trip also. And if you want to borrow that vid you can, but it would deffinantley be out of the way for you.

Are you gonna beat me up the hill on your 300 now?:D

And what did you do now michiganrider? Trying to hide the gas on everyone?

michigan rider
12-23-2003, 09:43 PM
no, just put a six pack rack on last week and had a 2 gallon tank in it and it fell out not once but twice the second time it bounced out and hit me in the back before it hit the ground. put a second strap on and it was fine the rest of the day.
