View Full Version : stupid hurts. broke wrist. need pins.
can't type well with one hand. to make it short...
moto1-3rd of 11. i KICKED!
moto 2-got stuck in mudhole, was REALLY mad. tried a 60' double. landed short. 50'. i flat landed about 5' high. my hand torqued the whole way backwards and touched my wrist. i broke the bigger if the two bones in the arm. it busted unevenly the whole way across at the top where it gets thick. i also broke some smaller bones in my wrist that will probably need pins. i have to get more x-rays at 12.at 1 they decid if i need surgery or not. if i do, they'll cut my wrist open and out steel pins in to re-connecty the smaller bones. doc said he thinks i shattered a bunch of bones. not good. i KICKED in moto 1 thouhg. i got a bad start. went from 11 to 3. passed 8 guys! i was 2feet short of passing the 2nd. i passed a R, 400s, warrior, blaster, 300, z400. i flew!
gtg get ready for surgery:(. they sat it's 70% i need it.

I got 2 screw in my wrist about 3 years ago/
I have lost some mobilty in it like with side to side motion.
But yeah I guess it's worth 300 extra a moth for the rest of my life, heheh.
rated at 20% for disabilty maybe in a couple years I;ll complain about the wrist again hopefully the govt. will boost it up to 30% that way I get a handicap sticker

my dad shatered his wrist in january, and he has a plate and 5 screws in it, hes slowing getting muscles back, i dont think ti would take you 5 months to get bck to norm considering my dad is 3 times your age.
I broke my foot in 3places before i got nerfs, but thats wasnt anythign big i didnt need surgery

well. i went to a pro. best in PA. he said the bone is 1/8th inch from popping out of my skin. you can see a lump. the bone is in 2 where it broke. i broke my radius by the growth plate. they can't pin it cause it's in 2. i have some hairline fractures in my hand. i can try to get pics of x-rays on in 10 min. i broke it right across. it broke down one inch too. it's complex. it's swelled HUGE! red cast(honda).
!!!they had to reset it live, no pills. they had to push the bone back in place(dislocated). it hurt SOOOO bad!!!!!!! worst pain ever! they said i can take 2 aqdvil every 4 hours :mad: :grr: :ermm: :confused2 :scary:! ah.
rents and i agreed, no more racing for 3 1/2 years(18). they are getting my neighbor (son has rm65) to share and build a 1/2 mile private MX track(doubles, banks, whoops). 4-6 weeks to heal. they have to reset it again next friday and put a new cast on. good news-no pins, track, motorhome. bad-cast, no racing, waste o summer.

ouch! yesterday i was going up a hill at my friends house and at the top we jump up into his yard which is flat. (reminds me of "the wall" in huevos 4) well i gave it too much gas and hence the title... i flew off and screwed my back up and could hardly walk... only a bent grab bar on the quad though...

these are some of the other riders at the race...
^ was the 60'. you can't see the landing because it's out so far and the take off isn't even in the pic. i hit it like that high but wrecked. i landed but got off 20' after cause the pain.

Nice pics, but that sucks about the wrist and arm, i have a feeling ill do something similar soon. I hurt my wrist at least once everytime im on the track.:ermm:
here it is. very obvious.
that's no hairline fracture! the bone is dislocated in this pic. you can't see it but, from x-rayss yesterday that i couldn't keep, it is splintered an inch or inch and 1/2 down the back of my arm.

deal is i can't race for 3 1/2 years/ but, mt rents r getting my neighbors to build me a track. 1/2 mile MX track with jumps. i'll get a bunch og pics from that. we're going to start to work on it soon so it should be done when this heals so in about month and a half, i should be on th trak.
here are some dirtbikes on the double...

another guy like me just trying to get some big air without doubling it.

i did the same thing as you, but didnt get pins, both bones in ym arm were broken once by the elbow and higher ont he wrist towards the middle on one bone and at the wrist about an inch higher than yours in the first pic ont he other bone, thebone came togather and pinched a nerve in my arm and i have just a slight feeling in my middle and ring finger on my left hand now
and the bone on the left side of my left arm healed at a 30 degree angle (after i fell again with my cast)
if you havent gotten the pins get them, because if the breakw as liek mine any viberation in your left hand will make it hurt like hell (lawn mower, quad, weedwacker, even my bike and the steering whell in my car make it hurt)

I broke both of my wrist december 22nd of 2000.I jumped my 300ex.My right front tire wasn't all the way on the jump.And it did a barrel roll.I landed from 4th gear pinned with both my hands out if front of me.It broke both of them.I didn't have to get pins or anything.If hurst sometimes if I hit my wrist on something.I am going to have to run a steering stabilizer if I ever race again.I am fine riding around.Just when I put the hammer down My left one starts hurting.
Yes it was the most painful thing I have been through.it hurt so bad.

Daaayum. Get better soon man, it really sucks when your injured like that. I remember when I broke my femur, popped it right out of the skin. That was pain :(

DUDE, i sofa king jinxed myself. Look in the third page like 3 posts down. And now i have a broken wrist:mad: .Not near as bad as yours but it still sucks ball bearings. I need to get a pic of my cast, its all logo'd up.:p

Almost a week and a half ago i broke both wrists, one in three spots the other in four. Ihad surgery on both and am now getting better. I had two pins put in my left wrist that are still sticking out o f the skin. my right has a metal plate with screws holdind it together. both hurt after surgery but it will get betterv so hang in there.

i'm getting elka shocks so they're a little more stiff for hard landings like that one. i just signed up today at the gym so i'll be working out there a lot to get them strong. did ? he is SUPER muscular. 8 days now. i'm racing next year for sure and i'm getting a 400 at the end of the season next year. for this year, if my wrist can get strong as well as the rest of my body before season is over, i'll race again this year. this thing SMELLS horrible!

the doc said my wrist is healing well and i will have the cast off in 2 weeks. He also said it will be weak a couple weeks after that, but im gonna see about that.

you should see if fellow exriders would donate stickers for your cast.. slap a couple exriders stickers on there or something.. lol
dude hang in there ,...when i was younger I broke my left wrist..something like yours.( in 4 spots)...it needed 2 plates & 14 screws ...
It will be a long time before the rt one is 100% for you ..

yeah man feel better, of all seasons i broke mine last year.. couldnt do anything because it was my dominiate hand. Couldnt swim, or anything, although i did race some flattrack the best i could halfway through the 6 week reheal. It sucked i was bout this time in july and i was riding in an oval feild we use to race it, but the grass got high and there path was only wide enough for the quad.. well i was pinned in 5th flying and i hit something, must of been a goffer hole and my bike veered into the tall grass slightly and it just caught and flipped like 6 times, lucky me that i flew one way and the bike the other. It didnt feel like i broke it, just a sprain, but my parents wanted to make sure.. so we went to the local hospitcal and they said it was broken.. the arm bone got pushed into my wrist and my wrist boens shattered.. they wanted to do surgey but sent me to another doctor hour away. There they checked it and said they didnt know wether or not i needed it so they gave it a week in a small cast. When he looekd again he wanted to put pins and rods in my wrist and arm, but my parents didnt like that idea so they got a second opinion and he wanted to reset my bone right away, so i went into the surgery room the next day. I was scared and it was really cold, but they gave me laughting gas, which was so funny, i couldnt stop cracking up. Then came the anostishia (SP) and i was out within 3 seconds.. i woke up few hours later in a FULL arm cast... it sucled.. so for 4 weeks i was in this then 2 weeks in a short arm.. man when it came off i almost htrew up.. my arm was so skinny and had so much dead skin.. worst summer ever, i hate breaking bones, but u get the womens sympathy! well just thought id share my lil story

I seem to be pretty lucky, all you guys got it alot worse than me.I think i just buckled the ulna?. And something else wasnt right, but if it keeps heeling like it has been it will be of in 2 weeks. By then the quad will be all back together and i will try out my new shocks.:D

i'll have elkas in a few days to try out too:D. i decided to get stiffer shocks so they won't bottom over the doubles.

At least you can walk... I broke my ankle in 2 places and tore the ligament (spelling) I cant walk for 5 weeks and i cant put all the weigh on it for 8 weeks. doctor said not to ride for a year... ill make a few trips to put around the trails every now and then as soon as i get the cast off for sure. I have a question. How did you get your x-rays on your computer (scanner??) i gotta post mine (i got 4 screws) the x rays are pretty cool lookin because the screws are so much darker then the bones. I had surgery a week ago. the I.V. is GOOD STUFF!!!
BTW lesson learned. check the trails before you ride...

Hey Chucked....I'm kinda sitting in the same boat as you. First week of June I was leaving work on my motorcycle and someone backed out and hit me in the parking lot. Not a scratch on the Harley, my leg took all the damage. Broken Tibia and Fibula...part of the bone was sticking out the side of my leg. Not cool. I have a rod that runs from my knee to my ankle. 2 screws in my knee and 1 in my ankle holding it all together. Had to have surgery again last week for a bone chip that was pushing on my skin and also broke through. I got lucky tho and don't have a cast. I have to do Physical Therapy and can't bend my knee or ankle with a cast so I got a huge brace. Doc says I can't put pressure on my leg yet and it may be a few more weeks until he lets me. That will be around 8 weeks. He is talking months until I can bare full weight on it again. Sucks!! So for now the 400ex and Sportsman 500 H.O. sit in the garage for me to look at. :mad: I make my bro take them out and run them. I will be riding again as soon as I get the O.K.!!

Im on my 3rd cast. there was a bone ship just chlling in the joint but it has since joined back with the rest of the bone. I had 15 stitches and in september i will have to get 2 of the screws removed. the only thing that hurts now it the bruise where the screw is against the skin. I keep changing casts because the swelling was so bad imy foot looked like a small watermellon. and as the swelling goes down the cast gets looser and looser. I think in the second week of august i will be put in a walking boot, but i still cant walk without a cane or crutch until late august-mid sept.
well, i survived. the cast is off and has been for since friday. they said 2 weeks no less but i'm going to wrap my wrist and go trail riding with my g/f this sunday:). i can't wait! i think i'll just practice this year and race next. there's only a few months anyway. thanks for the help guys. to everyone else, get better.;)
