I've got two questions. What overbore makes 305cc on a 300ex? Can I bore it over that much with the stock sleeve? Anybody done this, what was the power increase like?

This second question should probably go in the body forum, but why make two threads? Is it possible to modify some factory effex graphics to fit a 300ex with fullbore plastic? Thanks for the help guys.

It's 282 the way it is... Why is boring it over a waste of money? Well, let me explain. It's a 1996 and its starting to use a little oil. Not enought that it's smoking but it's heading in that direction. I'm looking down the road a little. If I have to bore it out to clean it up then why not try and get some more cc's out of it?

if you HAVE to bore your cylinde rhten its all good....but, if your only purpose is to try to get a few more cc by going .080..it is a waste of money in 2 ways.....you have to buy new gaskets ...plus bore+piston+rings+ since its that far overif you ever need to go ne more you will need a new sleeve....only do it if you have to.... waste ne other way

Who would pay good money to be bored?

I believe 40 over will be about 305 but why not just bore it as much as you have to ( 10 over, 20 over) that way you can bore it again down the road instead of buyin new a cylinder.

looks like you still haven't gotten any real answers to your Q's so far. Well here goes. I believe a .080 bore is the size you are looking for to bring the displacement up to around 305cc's. You should notice some power increase from this too. I think you could retain your stock sleeve because when a 400ex is bored .080 over (416cc's), it uses the stock sleeve. As for the graphics, I am sure you could make it work. The only thing i know is that you couldn't use the hood sticker because of those mean looking vents on the nose of all fullbore plastic.

Thanks, I was planning on installing a high compression piston and a mild to hot cam when i take it apart. It's lasted this long without a rebuild so i don't plan on having to do it again. (Hopefully have a 400ex by then:D )
I was real dissapointed, Fullbore plastic for the 300 doesn't have those mean looking vents! That's the only thing i don't lik about it...
