repacking lrd?

how often should i repcak my lrd?

i have a D.G, it's pretty old, If i repack it now, it'll give it a better sound right? does this give a bit of a performance gain..
what if i repack it tighter? wouldn't this make the sound tottaly differant, prolly make it deeper right?
