Need a little help. I am putting the stock cam back in after replacing the head gasket. Not sure which direction the lobes should be facing - upward or downward.

I have the piston at top dead center with the "T" mark aligned in the index window on the crankcover.

The cam sprocket is aligned with the two lines being aligned with the top of the cylinder head.

It appears that I could put the cam bolts in with the cam being in one of two positions - either the lobes pointing up or with them point down.

Thanks for any help.

Lobes down, two index marks on cam gear parallel with gasket surface, third mark pointing up. Make sure the one sealed cam bearing is installed on the chain side with the seal facing outboard. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Love this forum. Not sure how people survived without the Internet.

Can't wait to get this back together.
