burnin oil??

i checked my oil in the 400 about a month ago, and ive ridden it bout 5 times since....i checked it today, and holy crap, it was lower than the dipstick!!! from when i bought it, i rode it for like 4 months without checkin the oil(i know...stupid) and it was right filled up. im worried about it...

could it be fried rings? i know motor basics, but im not sure why it lost soooo much oil over such a short period of time...

im not lookin forward to ripping the engine apart and redoing the top and bottem end:(

Let the engine cool then let it idle for 5 minutes, then check the oil. Let us know after that, i wouldnt think that u could burn that much oil without noticing, also look for leaks in the bottom of the engine and check ur crankcase breather for oil.

toby 400ex is right...you have to ride them then check the oil. this happen to me & it scared the $hit out of me!!!

I DID! i rode the freakin thing for like 15 minits BEFORE i checked the oil! :eek2: :eek2:

im gettin a strange feelin that i may be screwed:(

is it fouling plugs??or blowing black smoke?? is so them maybe it might be the rings.......:(

ya ride it then check it. Your valves could be seeping too:(
