i have a 250x which i put a 14 tooth sprocket on the front today. I dont think its a good mod. dont get me wrong, preformace wise, i like it, but i cant get the case saver to fit back in. Thats the part i dont like. I would feel safer if i had it in there. So canput the 13 back up front and change the rear sprocket to make the gearing like the 14 was? I think the sprocket in the rear is 36 or 38. I know its stock gearing. Any body have any tips?

yup. Going up one tooth in the front is like going down three teeth in the rear. It won't be exact, but you'll be close.

thank you very much, i would rather do that then risk runing my case.
thanks again. Has anybody else tried this? Is this the better opion to go. I think the stock is 38, but does anybody know for sure? Thanks

on my 400ex, i just grinded down the case saver a little bit. i don't know the factory size rear sprocket but you can just look at yours and count. a 400ex has 15/38 from the factory. on the 400ex, 1 tooth in the front is about 2.5 teeth in the rear. i am actually running two teeth smaller in the rear for a little more top speed. going down two teeth in the rear sounds like a good choice for you. however, it is cheaper to buy a front sprocket than the rear. i just got an aluminum renthal rear and it was $65.00. i did get a deal though because my friend works at the dealer.

Yeap,
I grinded dowm my case saver to fit my 14 tooth on my 300ex.

Perfect fit and there is still alot of metal left on it. Just take a grinder to it.
