I got a one inch slice in the sidewall of my back tire when a tree branch punctured it.I want to fix it without taking it off the rim because I know it's a b**ch to get the tire on and off the rim. Is there some way I can sew up the whole and then put in a can of fix a flat? Just call me a BEATNIK:D :bandit:

If you have a one inch slice in the sidewall you probably need a new tire - you could try to patch it from the inside with a car tire patch, but I don't know if that would even hold...

If I were you id just put a patch on it from the inside and then put a tube in there. Who cares how hard it is to take the tire off the rim its cheaper than buying a new tire. You only have to take the tire off the rim on one side. Just becareful not to pinch the tube.

Thanks J37, for that good dose of common sense:rolleyes:

Just take a nice handful of rope type tire plugs, a lot of rubber cement and shove them suckers in the hole. if it doesn't hold do it again. But my favorite way to plug a tire is to get a new one. I nice gash like that gives me a reason to buy some new meat for the beast.

Although you could probably fix it somehow I wouldn't risk another flat and buy a new tire.

Just my 2 cents.

On your tire, right???

I bet it aint no 1 inch slice you got all those plugs in. I pulled a TREE out of the sidewall right as it rounds the corner of the treads. JL ATV products has a beadbreaker for $85. Seems like a ripoff when I found another for $40 on the web. It's for car sized tires but I bet I can rig it up for a 9 inch rim.
I tried getting it off by driving my truck over it, no deal, it didn't work. Maybe if I got one of those tire spoons pounded in between the rim and the tire that might just do it:)
If not I might have to go with the bubble gum idea from Knot head in MN. Ididn't know they had gum in MN yet :eek2:  :huh  Do they give you a wad of it when you purchase a BLASTER???..........ROFLMFAO!!!!.................. .Just kidding!!!....don't have a cow!?!?

HAHA yeah in my tire:devil:

I wouldn't try gettin it off ur self cuz its a pain in the arse. Just go to the local tire shop and get it off there:) It doesn't cost that much and they can get it off a lot easier:devil: Actually one time I needed a tire takin off and my shop did it for free;)

I have 5 plugs in one hole in my rear tire. The hole is from tread to tread on my razrs. After you put the plugs in light them on fire, so they melt into one glob, theyve been in my tire for maybe 7 months and they dont leak one bit.

i had 10 plugs in a cut on my rear stocker. they worked good for several, several months. you may hear from someone else that it wont work, but take it from someone who had done it. i had pics of it in a thread but it may not be here anymore.

used to have a total of 22 plugs all together:eek2:
