I really haven't been on the up and up of the new kits since I was happy with what I had. But as some of you have seen I blew it up and need something new. What kit is the best for the money? I was looking at the sparks 416 National kit (minus carb and port work) But man thats a lot of cash. I build my own motors so I just basically need the main parts IE. piston and cam. Well let me know what you guys think and what has been working well lately.

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times I don't get on here as much as I like since I'm working about 50-60 hours a week right now.

Thanks in advance.

Justin

Most people won't argue about a JE or Ross piston. I run wiseco with no problems as of yet. Next the cam, every here has a completely different opinion on these. Some say Hotcam, Web, TC, Sparks...... I went with Hotcam beccause it was a "drop-in" and it was one of the cheapest and had some of the bigger gain, also I haven't had any troubles with it. They have had some issues with it but if you get one of the new cams you shouldn't have any probs. It is all where and how much money you want to spend.

I suggest calling TC and FDO and maybe getting all the motor parts you need from them. Sparks seems to be a little expensive, and in my opinion the other 2 are just as good if not better then sparks.

i would definatley go with a 416...i love mine...has plenty of power.....i would recomend a JE piston though...i ahve wiseco and i ahve alrleady broken one of them...due to the fact the person that did my engine never put in the c-clip in the wrist pin to hold it in....and wiseco is not true compression...where as JE is

The motor used to be a 426 with a JE 11:1 piston with a stage 1 hot cam. I was ok with that but not truely happy. I hope I'm happy with the next motor.

Were you running pump gas with the 11:1 JE? What about the Ross - I thought the was the best, comparible to the JE but lighter?

Yes, I've ran 94 since the machine was bought new in 2000 and didn't chance when I went with the JE. At 11:1 I didn't see a point to it.

If you are running an 11:1 than I would strongly reccomend running 102-104 octane. You need it to prevent pre-detonation. People say you don't need it if it's truly an 11:1 but I would disagree and rub Cam 2 to be on the safe side.

That's good. Trust me when I tell you that I know it's expensive. That's why I stopped using it myself in my 440 11:1. People convinced me it wasn't nescasary. well a couple of blown head gaskets later I learned the hard way. By not running the high octane your actually hurting your engine in the long run.
