Its a different brand. If parts off the 400 fit on it, that will be quite weird.

i just have a felling it is going to be like the raptor... ( swing arm and stuff), in general, can i take a ex axle and put it in a raptor??

i know that it isn't out yet, but specs should be out tomorrow...

it's the YFZ450. it's on the yamaha web site now. i was there at 11:00 central time sharp. this thing looks like a beast, i seriously think that it's not going to be another craptor experience....i think this is the real deal, yamaha is actually starting to think:eek2:

i have seen raptors using 250r axles, so would a 400ex axle fit then??

i don't see why you would want to. it looks like it's already a sweet ***** quad stock.

well i just got a buch of stuff for my ex, now that this came out i am selling it to buy the 450, and don't want to spend that money again, so i thinking maybe just stick it on the 450, that way it will be wider for mx racing... also then i can use the burgard beadlocks i just bought as well,... i just have a lot invested in my ex that i don't feel i want to give up, so most i will part out but some i maybe want to keep...

i know the bolt patterns are differant but do you think honda long travel front ends would fit on it. Seeing cannondales and 400ex and 250r's can all swap the honda 400ex style front ends?

Why do they call it a 450 if it is only a 440?

400exBro

same reason honda doesn't call the 400ex a 396ex

i guess it just makes it sound better and sounds like it has more power...

I just meant it should be called a 440 because that is what it is closest to(439).

ya, i get ya...

but i think they should of left it at a 445 at least that way the 440cc limit in pro would be bumped up to 450.... that is why they put it under 440 just so it will go into pro, even if they built that 450, atva would bump the cc limit up, right??

The ATVA probably would bump it up but why risk it. Just release something that meets the current limits. If the ATVA bumps it up anyways, I think Yamaha would bump up the cc's in their quad too, since it wouldn't cost them much. He11, it probably cost them more to make the motor smaller. And even if they just left it a 440 the whole time, who cares? It's only 10cc's. If Yamaha throws together a team, they'll be runnin a 450, so it won't matter to them anyways, as long as people buy it.

Tires - lol
More than likely someone will produce a round housing swingarm that will fit ex/r axle.
Burgards makes a swingarm for the Z that accepts 250r components & another one that accepts the Z's axle & components.
That swingarm carrier design looks like a POS to me, & front shocks look kinda fishy too.
I have faith in Honda to make a new quad, look at their Rincon, it freakin - WON - the BAJA 1000, overall in quad class.
Till the crf 450 quad comes out, I'll keep the Z's I have for now.

i figure out that it will cost me about 7 grand more to do a yzf cinversion on my ex, and by the looks of it, it will cost me more to buy the new yzf 450 and then get all racing parts for it.... first i will see, but i think i am leaning towards the yzf 426 engine or crf 450....

it'l cost you more to do the hybrid. why don't you ship the new parts back and get a credit for the new bike. they might charge you 10% restookin fee but who cares. YOu gotta stop changing your mind all the time. im sure your dad is shaking his head every time you tell him somthing new. Me and my cousin are thinkin of buying one at the same time to save money. like come october-november. Maybe you can get in on it. We will go to tenyson and see what he can swing it for if we all buy one.
