So uh yeah :( thats not cool. Make sure you guys all check your oil frequently. I just changed mine a few months ago and it wasn't leaking and didn't have many hours on it. Well I guess I'll have a 416 now.

That really sucks. Atleast now you'll end up with a better motor. So how long will it take you to get everything rebuilt, that way i know how long i'm gonna have the fastest 400ex at the drag strip. lol

If I can find a sleeve that is. Apparently honda doesn't sell just the cylinder sleeve and I don't think the 416 kit would work well in a 426 bore lol

It never froze up it just wouldn't run anymore lol. It would still turn over only it would make a really cool grinding noise like if you were to go drop some small metal shavings in your gas and run it for awhile lol. It must have just been burning oil and I usually don't check my oil till I think its time to change. Chickendick and I we're riding for about an hour and a half and it must have just got hot enough that things started going wrong lol. Actually at the time I'd have to say the motor wasn't above 1k rpms and it just shut off and never started again.

On a side note, whats everyone think about the Curtis Sparks 416 national motor?

..hey, i'm not tryi'n to make you mad, or bash you, but
i'm ganna say it's your own fault....

CHECK YOUR OIL..i check mine everytime i ride it.
there's no reasin not to.
crank it, load it on the truck, shut if off while you tie it all down, then check it before you drive off.

i know the oil isn't "supposed" to go anywhere....
only ****z, and giggles are 100%...ur not gigglin'......

Oh I know its my fault. I said that 2 days ago when it happened. If it would have been the clutch that did it it would have been my fault I knew it was bad and I was to lazy to replace it. But what can ya do. Time to rebuild it and hopefully make her a little faster. :D

Looks like a little more than just low oil. But either way. Your prob gonna need to look over that crank carefully. Better safe than sorry. :ermm:

I hope you know that your oil is not suppose to be BLACK! I would also suggest changing your oil more often then what you have been.

Actually that oil doesn't have I'd say more than 20 hours on it. It wasn't that old.

for the other dude. I didn't have anymore time tonight to mess with it. I plan on checking the crank, rod, and going through the rest of the motor this weekend.

Edit: BTW I just wanted everyone to know that the cam pictured is a Hot Cam and the flange was still tight and the cam was in great condition other than it being totally ruined. LOL

If your oil looks like that after 20 hours.... why would'nt you use a different kind? Maybe synthetic? You would quickly notice how much cleaner your oil would be and how much cleaner the inside of your engine would be.

I saw where you were talking about. You have to realize that the quad only had a quart in it and was riden for about an hour and a half straight. I'm not a mechanic nor a motor man but my guess is that the oil was really burnt. When I cracked the valve caps open it smelled so bad I almost gagged. Then when I pulled the head cover off it was even worse. The oil was burnt badly and my guess is thats why it looks so black in the pictures.

You also have to concider that it was ran two times at a drag strip proably 20 times down the 1/8th mile with that little bit of oil.

I'm gonna be scared once you get the new motor :scary:

He said he's going back to stock bore, LMFAO:devil: :D

It might be cheaper for you to try and find a new motor. That head is ruined also, add that to possible bottom end damage and that almost = new(used) motor.

Call Scott at ProFabAtv, he has some OEM honda sleeves laying around. He'll make you a good deal. In fact, I would send him the whole motor and have the whole 416 package done. I've heard they do great work, in fact, he has my motor as we speak.
