Anyone heard anything about a new rear shock that Elka is introducing. A friend told me that they are making a new triple rate rear and are developing a linkage for a long travel rear. I talked with Houser and they are saying that with their +1 1/4 swingarm and the new linkage shock it will give you 11.6" of rear wheel travel. Just wondering if anyone has done any research on this.

Suppose to be ready in two or three weeks.

sweet - is the tripple going to be a long travel only setup though?

Also will this linkage work with a stock length swingarm?

Yeah it's true...the quadshop had a custom triple rate elka go on the CRF450 quad they had with a +4 houser swinger out back.. Cool stuff I think....but remember Elka is junk so watch what ya buy....:o

A +4 swingarm seems to long. And a triple rate rear shock is a little to much. Just buy an Axis shock and then you won't need 11.6" of travel to keep from bottoming out!

I would have thought that +4 is a little extreme too.

thats a long swingarm, what did he plan on riding with a +4 swingy?

First off the +4 swinger is what the buyer of the quad wanted for roosin in the dunes out west. This quad was not a XC racer with a +4 swinger on it.

2nd off the rear end was setup like the front. Long travel so houser and elka got together to make this setup work.

The quad was a complet houser frame/chassis setup...very very sweet i must say.

:blah: sorry if I didn't explain all the details at the beginning..:ermm:

and someone mentioned you need an axis not to bottom out...no its more like get the shock setup for your riding style...I've yet to bottom my dual rate rear elka out,,in MX and XC.

It didn't look like to me at Red Bud Gust was having any problems with his Elka rear. Guys either like them, or they don't, just like everything else out...

hey Rico you should soften up the shock a lil bit cause your not using all of its travel ;)

I guess you take me for an idiot..:ermm:

The shocks go thru a major adjustment between the 2 types of racing. I keep track of every change i make and were i'm going to do the riding.;) I"m still far from dialing them in fully and getting them setup to perfection..

i hear ya bro and no i don't take you for an idiot..since when did you get so sensitive :blah: im just saying..everyone thinks its bad if they "bottom" there shocks and from what i know about MX you are suppose to "bottom" your shocks out on one jump on the track that way you are using your shock to the fullest extent

when I say bottom I mean almost break your ankles from the impact bottom. Yeah my shocks front and back have reached their full capacity several times off jumps. I guess a good G-out is what I consider bottoming out..;)
