Out of these two honda four strokes, which engine do you guys think has the potential to put out more horsepower? The 350x or 400ex? im talking a built motor, not stock...

Come on guys, some of you guys out there gotta have an opinion on this, I know what one most of you are thinking, just go ahead and give your vote and opinion, why you think which motor will make more power...

i voted 400ex because of all the aftermarket they have for it. look anywhere and you'll find someone that sells something to fits on a 400ex

crazy fast they get i tell ya:devil:

stock to stock, the 400ex will pull.... BUTTTTTTTT built to built i think the 350x has more potential. So ive been told by numerous engine builders. Plus the 350x was built to have more than one wheel turning. The lower end is much more beefier than that 400ex, a built 400 CAN go through clutches quite often compared to the X motor which was built for two rear wheels to pull. If you think about it througholy it makes good sense!!

350x has more potential and it has six speeds so its faster

The aftermarket for the 400EX is growing, the aftermarket for the 350x is shrinking.

With a little of bit of motor modds that 350x will pretty fast well faster than that of a 400ex.

I say they have about the same potential. Any aftermarket engine mod that you can buy for a 400ex, you can buy for a 350x. And the six speed versus five speed doesn't make that much of a difference. If you look at the gear ratio's for both, 5th gear for the 400ex and 6th gear for the 350x are just about the same. I think that is why the 350x might have a little more bottom end. The 400ex gears are taller in the bottom end.

stock for stock the x motor is faster and has more pull, but when you consider the market for aftermarket parts you can build the 400ex to have way more juice. but when you talk about built do you mean having someone like fourstroke tech or curtis sparks do it? because if you are they can probably get some insane HP outa the x. when you talk about modified you should really put a price on it cause if you got the dough that x will be mean.

I know what you mean ridered, I am having a 350x built by a professional right now. Hes not a nationally known builder but he sponsors alot or local riders and knows his shizzzz... I could have spent big bucks on my X but going to college and racing dont always mix on the income part of things. I had to go low end, the buidler was quite dissapointed when i said NO port job, but oh well what can a guy do! My X is going to be one mean whoop eatin machine!

My buddy got Powrolls 432cc motor package for the 350z and my 400ex was ported,cam,11:1,pipe,and it kept up with it in the long run. I eniliated it in the start tho

i would say the 400ex because of all the diffeent aftermarket parts.

I think the x might be better for power, but I still can't figure out why everyone does the 350x conversion to the 250x and 300ex's cuz I would rather just stick a 400's engine in there and have electric start:D

The reason for the conversion is the 250x and 350x bottom motor mounts are exactly the same and the sprocket lines up exactly the same. The 400ex was taken out of a dirtbike and would take much more work to get the sprockets to line up. Also, most people who do the conversion race and dont want the extra weight of a battery over a kickstart, at least thats my assumption. Although the low end on the 400ex is probably lighter than that of the 350x. That was a good question though!
