the reason u can get in trouble is because it is copyriting. somebody just took lets say the adress of a banshee picture and kept messing with it like putting of in front and then yz450 and got lucky, or they found a way to get into the directory. anyways its stealing and we should keep out of it... lets not post more pics until we hear from ben...

Almost certainly they just started requiring people to have an ID to see the pictures because some people will link pictures on a forum to other sites, and when people view the pictures it eats up the forum's bandwidth. I made the switch a couple months ago - people without an EXriders ID can't see any of the pictures. We had a lot of people posting pictures on here and then linking to them on other sites :scary:

I am sure Yamaha is loving this right now. Manufactrurers like to have all the buzz. And they definately got the buzz going tonight.

This looks like it will be a killer quad. Low seat height, Power should be mid 30's, reminds me of a 86-87 250R from the side. I hope it is at least 45" wide and looks to have a much lower seat height than the Raptor, maybe even lower than the EX.

For all of you saying "thats my next quad" etc. We don't know much about it, if anything other then what it looks like, if those pictures are real (yamaha could have done that to get everyone excited) Not that I don't believe that it will be good, but I wouldn't put my money on the fact that it will be. Wait till you have some facts, could be typical Yamaha, and it wont last 3 days without something breaking on it.. We will see, I still love my 400ex and won't be switching for about 2 years...

They'll be able to run it in the pro prod class which is the up and coming big thing in ATV racing so it's not all that bad. It looks like a raptor Z400 hybrid to me:ermm:

I can say it looks like it will haul the mail and will be competitive in all aspects of racing hands down. Realible is something we all don't know. I think the motor will be sound but everything around it kinda skeers me:scary:

On a last note I wouldn't get rid of the 416 for nothing and the design of that front plastic looks like it will deflect roost pretty good......:bandit:

I think its the nicest lookin quad on the market. I also think this is going to change our sport forever. Its got rebuildable shocks! now all we gotta to is send them in to get rebuilt instead of buying all new ones. And its setting is at a MX track!!! This is what The dirtbike guys have had for years. This is only good for our sport. I'm extremely excited about this thing. I will definatley buy one. Screw honda! slacking *******s!. Im not loyal to anything. I want wants best. Im not saying its the best cause i don't know. but Im willing to bet the shirt on my back its gonna handle atleast as good as a z400 and 400ex. The engine may be downtuned but a few mods will bring it up to speed.

The AMA already stated that if a factory produces a 450cc quad that they would alter the rule to allow them to race. This quad will be legal for the 2004 race season.

I'm not going to bash this quad because it's more than what Honda is giving us at this point in time but the frame looks like a nightmare. Now, I haven't ridden the quad yet but just by the looks of it I'll tell you that it doesn't handle like a Laeger chassis.

The word on Honda: there isn't one. I heard from an extremely reliable source that there won't be any new Honda that we'll see this year.

This quad is going to flip the quad work upside down. a quad like this will sell like a 250r. the general public sees a hybrid..but made by yamaha, and with a much lower price tag. its going to flood the starting gates to the point that the ama will probley raise the displacement from a 440, to a 450. there would have to be 5 subclasses, all in the open to fit these quads in. and once the cometition comes out with a 450 also, (honda, suzuki, kawi..which they all will..its a matter of time) its going to be 4stroke madness out there!

the frame is not going to be weaker if anything i would say yamaha took thier time on this one and probably got pretty close to being right if you look at the vertical frame rails near the foot peg they appear to be a litlle larger then a raptor ?!

IMO, Honda doesn't have the testes to produce a CRF450 quad right now, but the likely success of this new Yammy will likely help the big H to grow a pair. After all, the almighty dollar speaks loudly.

I imagine that Honda (and everyone else) is watching the feltching dick weasels at CPSC and the general "legal climate" very closely. The sting of the 3 wheeler ban is still fresh on their minds.

That said, if this 450 Yamahauler is reliable and proves to perform as it should, my 440ex will end up in someone else's garage.

No way i would get one after all the problems with the 01 Raptors. I'm sure Yamaha will tell us all that this thing will kill every quad out there in it's class just like they said the Raptor would kill a DS everywhere. I bet it will be between a Z and Predator in speed and it does look like it has a better center of gravity than A Raptor. I'll stick with my Dale though.

I don't think it will spank a pred! Just because it makes a certain amount of HP in a dirt bike frame doesn't mean it will be putting out the same numbers in a quad frame. Look at the HP numbers of the z-400 and compare it to the dual sports or even the 400ex. They have to get the motor to put out more torque for the quads. I bet Yamaha will come out and claim 45 hp for it then the real numbers will be around 33-35. And a Pred puts out around 40 i beleive.

This quad says MX all over it so, I don't see it replacing a Raptor. The 660 motor has more HP potential after mods so, it will still be a favorite with the draggers and duners. The 450 appears to be more serious about mx and trails.

I agree. Yamaha really choked up the Raptor (just look at the stock exhaust) I mean, for God's sake it's a 660 and only puts out 35 hp stock, their would have to be a problem some where. Back to the new machine, all I can say is I WANT ONE SO FRIGGGGGINNNN BAD!!!!:devil:

I have to give credit to Yamaha, they are doing alot more for our sport that what Honda does! (so are bombardier, susuki/kawasaki, and even polaris!)

I won't be a test pilot for Yamaha though, I'm curious to see if we will see all the same problems the raptor had the first year?!?

I think Yamaha should be given credit for keepign sport quads alive for 10 years but, as far as racing...they havn't done squat. Except maybe a highly modified blaster, what othere yamaha has ever been competitive in racing?

looks like they ditched the crappy chain adjuster design from the banshee and went with a cannondale like design. I like those 400ex "like" rear tires, but them cheesy raptor front tires gotta go. softest sidewalls in the business. This bike is impressive looking, but something tells me it isn't going to be the firebreathing dragon everyone expects.

after micky dunlap massages the bike it will be a different story. :)

Chad Duvall was going to be on a GAS GAS 450 but it has not gotten here yet so Iam not sure about that deal,so as of right now Brad Macri will be the first test pilot. Brad will do the first mag. artical which is a little scary because everytime we put him in front of a camera he goes wild, last time he crashed 3 times in the first 10 shots!

back in the day when Jim "Harley" Holley was the key test rider for Dirt Bike magazine I often thought he had the best job in the world. How can a guy score a good paying gig doing the thing he loves most? I am not that lucky.

It would be sweet to save 30 lbs by taking away the batterie and crap , but since there aint no backup way of starting the thing , I guess it'll have to remain . I'm sure with aftermarket parts , you'll be able to shave of 30 to 40lbs off the machine though. This looks like one of the best bikes to hit the market since the 250r . I wish this bike had a kickstart though . Then it would be a TRUE race machine . Why Yammy Why Why Why did you not put a kickstarter . Oh well , Blue here I come .

...go to bluetraxx, look in the 450 forums, and look for a thread with a tittle something like (more detailed pics) or something.
they have a bunch of differant angles, airbox/filter set up pics.
motor/body cut away's...nice detail.
in one picture with half the motor cut away, you can clearly see a billet kickstarter ;)

i have a full pamplet on it...got it yesterday...and it has all specs and gyt-r stuff in it avaliable. a-arms and axle are available, but there isnt a kickstarter kit...if you are that serious about racing though, you could get the sidecase, gears and kickstart lever off the yz450f bike. its also been de-bored to a 439cc so its legal for gnc nationals. yamaha has come out with somin serious fellas....im already a polaris fan now though....sucks for honda, if they came out with a new bike i wouldve bought theyres, now i ridin a predator. peace
