I think that jet probably has more in it than just a cam and a high compression piston

That second one has got to be photoshopped. Airports tend to frown upon military jets breaking the sound barrier 30 feet above the runway!

I know that i am not a pro on the subject but you could not possibly follow a jet with a 35mm camera breaking the speed of sound. I do know that i have heard a sonic boom it was around 30 miles away sounded like a big burst of thunder but even bigger. i had no idea what it was. then later on in the news they reported that it was a sonic boom.

just because you haven't seen it for yourself doesn't mean it can't/didn't/doesn't happen.

It would be really difficult do snap a photo right when it happens, but I'm sure that it has happened before. I've felt/heard planes break the sound barrier, it is pretty awesome. Of course that photo could be taken at any day with high humidity of a plane traveling at or past the sound barrier and create the same effect, I don't think it has to be going exactly mach 1 to do it. Pretty neat photos nonetheless.

I used to have a video of one of similar distance... I don't think it was chopped...
