New parts for 2001 400ex:

1.) Yoshimura "off road" slip on silencer

2.) K&N air filter

3.) Outerwears air box holes (6 total, for 3 holes on right and left of air box)

The elevation where I ride is between 880 feet and 1200 feet.
Temperature ranges from 50-90 degrees.

There was no paper work with my products, as I thought there would be. Any tips on getting me started on this?

I know there are tons of jetting threads, I am reading through some right now, but can anyone help with my specific setup?

152-155 main jet (148 stock), 40 pilot (38 stock), fuel screw 2 1/2 turns out from lightly seated, needle stock position or move clip down 1 slot (slightly richer)--I prefer stock position. That should get you close.:chinese:

Change of plans...the Yoshi is gone :-(
I decided not to install it due to atv/landowner problems in Vermont...the yuppies have taken over and it is getting worse every week around here.

Anyway, I have yet to do the K&N + air box holes mod...
The elevation where I ride is between 880 feet and 1200 feet.
Temperature ranges from 50-90 degrees.

Please help (again)?
;)

with just the K&N and six holes in the lid you probally only need to go with a 150 mainjet.

Thanks cals400ex, but can anyone else also second this opinion?

Do I need to do anything else (idel screw, needle positions, etc.)?

idle should stay the same. i would even put in a bigger pilot jet. i put in a 42 when my bike was all stock. it just helps it start quicker when its cold. your needle position will be fine in the stock position. if you get some problems with the bike wanting to hesitate at low rpm's when the bike is cold, then you can move the clip down one position. this cured all of my low rpm hesitations.
