im getting a 250r this summer and my friend is getting a brand new crf450r at about the same time. we are going to be riding all kinds together. anyway, i was wondering if i will be able to keep up with him on my 250r. if not what kind of mods would it take to keep up. thanks btw, this will be in the dunes and trail riding and river beds. stuff like that, no mxing.

i dont know how close you will be to him the power to wieght ratio is so much greater !! he will probably pull you pretty decent my YZ400 is hella faster then my R

He will beat you through all his gears. its a 450 yours is a 250. 4 stroke 2 stroke, his is lighter yours is heavier. But yours will be better in woods unless he has been ridin dirtbikes for a while. When i ride trails i go usually go fast then for some reason it just seems easier:ermm:

I have been ridin for a long time. mostly trails. I heard the crf450 has about the same amount of power as a cr250:confused: which i belive is correct. There is a little problem that i dont like about the 450 and i like about my cr250. 450 is heavier then my 250, i personally think my bike is light!..

Does anyone know how much an R ways stock?

my cr is only 11 pounds lighter! hmmmm. 211pounds cr250.. I donno thats light in my opinion. now does anyone know stock weight of an R

the R is like 325 give or take a couple pounds. the crf450 is actually only 9 pounds more then the cr250.

uglymotha- thats what im figuring im gonna have to do all the time to keep up :)

having an extra gear then him will help wont it. his is 5 speed mines 6??

I think some people are confused in here, some are talking about trx250r's and others are talking about cr250r's. If it is a cr that needs to keep up with a crf, it wont be much of a prob, theyre in the same class. But if it is a trx250r trying to keep up with a crf it wont be much fun if the crf is goig fast.

just to clarify...

its a (stock) 2004 crf450r dirtbike and a 86-89 trx 250r quad(prob with mods like pipe, bigger, carb, suspension.)
