ah potato guns.......

I have one, but its so old now that it will probably blow. We would use some type of carbide type rocks (forgot their name). put some water in the end, drop a couple rocks, stuff the potato and your ready to go. Lot more powerfull than just hairspray, or starter fluid. We were launching probably around 150 yards. long ways.

Where do you have your igniter located? IM me on AIM and I'll help ya out. we're still trying to find the best way of ignition, but we have some good ways for now.

We used a flint type lighter from a propane camp light. You might be able to buy the little assembly at GI Joes or somehting. :macho

Bring yours down, we're all gettin together tomorrow, there will be like 5 guns or so.

HHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHA!!!!

The gun is like 6' 4" tall, hahahaha

Longer barrel for more accuracy, distance, and a straighter trajectory...

put a tater in it.. then drop some pebbels or rocks on top of it.. now you got some shotgun power... hhahah

we used to sit in fields and shoot eachother with them. nothing like potato welts.. we used a twist flint and hairspray works wonders. :bandit:

my tator gun is about 6 foot long. instead of the usual combustion guns i made a chamber put a valve stem on one end and a ball valve on the other, and attached a barrel. i put about 30 pounds of air in it....not quite sure tho...never measure it,,, and turn the ball valve...this one shot a tator about 150 yards,

I'll have to pull my old ones out and get pics this weekend. We use those long lighters with a trigger (like for lighting grills or fireplaces) and connect it to a sparkplug in the ign. chamber. Looks cool, hold it like a bazooka and pull the trigger....

********DISCLAIMER*************
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!

We built many a tater guns back in the days. Use to shoot The Commons in Kane with them late at night! But the best ignitor is a gas grill ignitor rebuild kit. You use the button just like a trigger! :macho You'll find them at the local hardware store...:uhoh:

The Patriot shoots about 200 yards on a good shot, we had to use spray paint as fuel, because we were too anxious after it was done, and didn't go an buy any eather. We're gonna be making a propane powered one soon. Wow are these things fun. I've got 2 in my garage and 4 of my friends have one.
