View Full Version : Drag Racin a R???

I'm goin out this weekend to buy a 87 250R and am gonna drag race it around my area. I want a good setup to win. It is port and polished by CT racing and has a 89 rod in it. I'm gonna buy a pipe I think a ESR..what kind of carb should I go with and how big? Any other suggestions would help......thanks

I really like Mikuni carbs. I think stock is a 36, correct me if I'm wrong, but try going a mm or 2 larger. It'll give more topend, with the sacrifice of more bottom, but for draggin it doesn't really matter.

PSI makes a monster 425cc for the 250r, you may want to look into it...

My vote would be 38 or 39 keihin for drag. When you get the ESR pipe ask them, they would know the best for your application. Stock is 34...

ya stock is 34mm. i would suggest a esr trx 11 or ftz pipe. i went to silver lake once and watched a 250r with a ftz pipe on alcohol wax drag shees. the only thing close to him was a ds650 with a NOS bottle strapped to the front bumper.

When you get it. Take It home pull it ALL Apart sell it all the parts and build one like mine! :) :) :)

There's a guy around here that has an R that been ported locally, Has an ESR stroker crank and a drag pipe. It also has had alot of chassis mods to lighten it (supposedly wieghs 280). I've seen it run 79 mph at the local drag strip.

How's that thing handle on the track or in the woods?:confused: :rolleyes: I'm just being dumb!!!:scary:

Is there is no woods in So Cal so I dont know. And For the Track I changed out the swing arm and pipe. With the Laeger's frame, T Pin front end, and PEP ZPS its the best track bike Around

I think I am gonna go with the ESR 11 pipe. I would like to put a 370 kit in it. Is the ESR also a could one to put it or should I look else were...thanks

AT pismo the last big weekend ( forget what trip it was) ESR stroker 370's with trx11 and the out of frame drag pipes were completely smoking builts shees... it was a complete joke. i had to give my buddy's chit cause they ride banshee's and poke fun cause i only have 1 cylinder hehe .....so seeing the twins get smokes was a fun thing..:rolleyes: :p
