You can still save the files you want to keep by going into safe mode........

You could loose all of your files, but I doubt it unless you end up reformating your hard drive.

Dells idiot tech staff had me reformat mine (before trying to save any files). I lost just about everything. I took it to work and the corporate administrator recovered some of my stuff (kind of embarassing too:ermm: )

How often do you defragment your hard drive?

Back the mofo up and rebuild it from the ground up or you'll run into more problems down the line. Fix it now while you still have access to an OS...:(

Sounds like your physical harddrive is actually goin bad,,which means it needs to be replaced possibly. I don't know what brand you have but most major Manufacturers have a 3 year warranty. If you have just 1 pshysical harddrive you might be in bad shape..if you have another drive then move all your important data over to that drive or use a zip drive and move stuff to it..

There are definately ways to save your data, don't just reformat it. PM if you have some really important info you need to save. I can help.;)

I agree with this moron.

I would look into replacing that drive AFTER you back everything up that is important. You could try reformatting it after you back it up...but I always find once a drive has a problem (such as the one you posted), replace it asap.
