Does anyone have any experience with 265 powervalve motors. I am looking at buying one and wondering what everyone's opinions is on each brand. I am leaning toward ESR or PSI.

I can't compare the two but my ESR was worth every cent as long as it continues to run like it did this past weekend.

ESR, I've heard reliability issues with PSI. But see if anyone on here has run PSI 265 motors (Chef has a reeeeeally big one, lol).
I don't have an ESR motor but I'm running their stroker crank, carb, and some other things and their customer service is great.

i dont think u could go wrong with a sparks, pc2000, lrd, or esr powervalve. i've never seen a psi in action.

I would go with a LRD 265 powervalve if I were you. If I'm not mistaking I think that is what Jeremiah Jones runs or use to run...

I have a PSI 425, and I will start with the bad.

First, PSI is a bunch of freakin idiots. I waited 5 months for a radiator, and they sent me one. But it wasnt the one I paid for. It was half the size of what I paid my 600 bux for. So I sent that mofo back.

Second, they sent me one of their PSI Big Air carbs, which was pretty dang trick in itself. Only problem was, they set it up for a stock cylindered 250R. NOT a 425 Genesis. They refused to send the parts to make it right, as well.

Third, A few of the standard parts were missing from my initial package, with the cylinder and pipe. No Head Stay, no pipe springs, not enough studs.

Now to the good. :)

This thing has an ungodly amount of horsepower. Last Saturday night, I would come up off the corner at about 65, and it was runnin out of fuel. When it did pick up some fuel, it would carry the front tires for about 100 feet down the front stretch, or until I had to shift it.

It has adjustable compression, which is sweet for if you are lacking on horsepower. Just loosen up a few allen screws, turn a ring up, and start crankin on the movable dome.

And, the cylinder looks freakin radical, too!

hey chef, how much did that motor set you back, and the 425 isnt just for drag right. is it good for dunes and trail riding??

Chef, do you have compression ratio numbers on the dial-a-dome head? I wondering what range it has.

I was thinking of going with the PSI setup because I ride a lot of different terrain, it would be nice to be able to de-tune my quad to the 45hp level for casual trail and woods riding, then up it to 60+ for the dunes with just a few simple adjustments.

I think the dial a dome has a range from like 170 to 235 PSI, on the 265's. Thats at Sea Level, too. www.psiperformance.com will let you know more.
