i'm working on my motor on my 250x and i need to take the two caps off of the left side of the motor to find top dead center, but i don't know how to get them off. I think in the newer models they use an allen wrench sorta hole but mine just has a slot like you would use a really wide screwdriver for. i can't get them off and i'm afraid i'm gonna screw the thing up. i'll post a picture to show you what i mean. thanks

Looks like it has slits for a large flathead screwdriver or something, but maybe it's the lighting.:confused2

throw some wd40 on there and let it soak in, then push on the screwdriver hard and turn slowly to not strip it.

On my old X I had made a tool from a small peice of steel, a grinder and some Vice Grips!

well i tried the quarter in vice grips and it didn't budge. i tried liquid wrench too but that didn't help....i have no idea why this could be so tight that it won't come out....
