Ok i will admit one thing. That is ECA can build some good looking quads and thats about it. I just think its funny how they can build a 10K bike and not even get the motor fitted in properly with the right mounts. Im posting a pic of my headstay which took about 1 hour to make and about 8 bux in materials,And im posting a pic of ECA headstay which is invensible

No flame intended

I think MXbubs brought this point up before. Thats strange such a "big name" company slacked off like that....maybe they have their reasoning for it....but I doubt that because there really isn't an excuse for not making a head stay for a motor...it isn't exactly hard.

I have a Laeger frame and dont run a headstay on my R....maybe there's method behind their madness. Why don't you call Dave and ask him why...remember..an aftermarket chassis is stronger than an EX...

yeah id like to know also....some have said to run a headstay...others say dont:ermm:

if the motor didnt need a head stay using the other mounts yamaha wouldnt have put one on the bike, and eca conversions wouldnt fall apart, if ur gonan do it do it right:o

Its that black bracket, and the spacer...both are there to help hold the top of the engine so its better supported.

The yz motor in a quad frame NEEDS a headstay. I know, and not from speculation.:D

Yes 100% agreed. If u guys are aware or not MXbubs crack the headstay mounts on his conversion. That shows that there something going on there and needs to be solved and that is buy beefing up the mounts like i did and put a darn support:blah:

a headstay not only jsut supports the motor. it also give the frame the strength it needs to take major punishment. having the motor mounted in there with out a headstay is just asking for a junk frame later down the road, the motor gives the frame extra strength from bending or breaking

yeah. I'd say all big thumpers need a headstay. 250rs don't cause theyre not as heavy and some say the without using a headstay it lets them rev more freely because the head can vibrate alittle.

i know a fella who has a leager framed yz426 and he cracks his headstay all the time....i can only imagine what would be breaking if it DIDNT have one:ermm:

Actually look at the frame rail right above the red hot start lever, then look over to the right a tiny bit, looks as if there's a bolt hole there to me... hmmm wonder what it could be??:devil:

Wonder no more, it is the mounting hole for the front fenders.:D :eek2:

Actually that's the gas tank mount bolts.

Arens headstay uses the gas tank bolts to bolt the headstay to the frame.

The million dollar question "where is the headstay?" Dave Gibson, are you here?:D

LOL. I'm guessing it's an Arens style set up, and the piece goes forward to the motor.

BTW, sorry if I sound like a smart@ss in that last post, lol. no flame. I just got to examining and thinking. haha
