Plastic piece between gas tank and engine...

Do you need that plastic piece between the gas tank and engine? The only thing I can think of is it's there a kind of a heat shield? But I doubt it block much heat.... Has anyone here done away with it ??

It's a heat shield.. One thing I know is don't mess with heat and gas... Why take it off.... leave it alone...

Yeah, makes sense, but if it doesnt do anything or doesnt protect anything I might take it off too, or just mod it so it is only used to protect the tank.

it raises the tank up quite a bit and helps route cables and such.
