416 vs. 440

alrgiht i know this has probably been posted but please just answer anyways. which kit will produce more torque and overall power, a 440ex or a 416ex? if i get a 416 kit can i do this without boring the engine? basically what can i do to get the most power out of a 400ex?

i hear 416 i s better for mx cuz it revs quicker i cant really say which is better but im happy with my 416

i know but u have to type atleast 3 letters to do a search which is stupid so u cant just type 416 or 440. so u have to search hard. just want a few opinions from u guys

i dont have experiance with either but every one says the 416. but i would say the 440 if you get like pipe, carb, and other stuff so you can use the power it gives out without wasting it. but thats just my opion correct me if im wrong

I just raced a fully build 440 with my 416 and beat him by about 3 quad lengths in about a 400ft run. I don't know if the jetting was off or what but he had 39mm FCR and about 2500 into the motor itself. It could be rider too, but that has been my experience.

I always heard the 440's had a lot more torque but the 416's rev quicker for mx. No first hand experience though. Also its not just the strait bore that matters. Your better off going with a nicely done 416 over a half arse 440 for the same price. Also I wounder if it matters if like its a strait bore 440 or a stroked 406, 416, 425, ect.

Equal riders and both fully built motors the 440 would be better. The problem with most 440's, like mine, is that it has no head work. So most people race properly built 416's to mild built 440's. Like mickey dunlap said in one of his replies when we were doing the ask the pros or something like that, he said there is no way a properly built 440 should lose to a 416.

also to search 440 just do this 440* that is why if you READ the instructions it says to search using the "*" if its under 4 characters.

416 is better for lighter riders
440 for heavier riders who need the extra torque.

the 416 would probably rev quicker but the 440 would probably have more torque. its just what ever you think

cant you get a 426? so wouldnt that be the best cause its right in the middle kind of.
