i think i have finally decided on getting a hmf slip-on for my 2002 400ex since i can't afford the sparks x-6. I just want to get a final opinion on this system.

Go for it. I think you will be happy with it.

HMF is very nice. I run a HMF slip-on on my 2003 400EX. You will notice a nice difference between low and mid range. Your higher range there is a some difference but not a big one.
