axis. never ridden them but every one just knows they are the best.

custom axis shocks up front with leager, arens, or roll design LT a-arms...the set is pretty costly..but with money being no obligation it is by far the best way to go

what are wrong with pep's. I thought all the pros were running pep.

The long wate... Of course if money is no object and you ordered a full set of 3 and mabey a-arms from baldwin mabey they would speed things up for you.

Buisnesses usually bend a little for big sales.

Does anyone else have any opinions as to which shocks are the best. It seems as if its pep vs. axis.

i'd have to say i think moto woz is the best. i had to pass up a sponsorship from them cuz even with the sponsorship they were too expensive for me :( i'll have a set some day tho

quader400
05-21-2003, 03:26 PM
they offered to sponser you and you turend them down? gezz. i wish some one would sponsor me. my dad is going to build a track though and then im going to start racing so hopfully some one will.

derekhonda
05-21-2003, 03:35 PM
they offered a partial sponsorship, like instead of him buying them for 1400 bucks like a normal person, he might have been able to get them for like 1000

quader400
05-21-2003, 03:38 PM
oh but still. so juggalo do you race or did they just like find you some how? and how far are you from chicago you ever been to byron?

Juggalo
05-21-2003, 04:18 PM
i had been talkin to them for a while and they offered. i live right next to rockford if you know where that is. its not too far from chicago. my friends race in byron all the time and i will be makin a few trips up there myself in the summer.

go with tcs. you can get the fronts with a rear rebuild for like 1000-1100 bucks. If you want LT, talk to me and i'll tell ya who to go to for a-arms.

No way Paul. Im going DFR all the way. You dont even have to be sponsored and DFR will give you trackside support. DFR has the hook up on prices too. Im getting the PEP long travel 19" shock for $820 when the thing retails for 900 bucks. They are giving me great deals on other things too.

axis long travel triple rate with rezzies is the best setup imo they cost alomst as much as motowaz and i am hearing motowaz is having trouble with there rezzy lines coming loose and leaking fluid.......................:confused2 wouldnt like to have my 1,400 dollar shock oil leaking....................:ermm: axis in my book peps are close but not quite great as axis.................

I would have to say what Jones is running or the Walsh. Jones uses the Laeger T-Pin with Axis LT's, and most of the other guys are running Walsh LT arms with Axis or PEP shocks. Just get the LT PEP and Laeger T-Pin or Walsh a-arms...

trx400ex

alot of people just say what they have because no one wants to admit they have inferior shocks, i have ridden axis and PEP and if there setup the exact same, there isnt much difference, i have ridden a full leager chassis with pep 19'' fronts and a no link rear, and it was great, but i couldnt tell a huge difference like most people would think there would be.....with any big name company, you cant go wrong, get whatever you like

Well we run Pep's on our Dale and Axis on the YZF. We also had Pep's on our EX. We feel they are equals to each other. With the Pep's ZPS you can get a lower ride height. I talked with Baldwin today to order another set for our 2nd Dale and he said 10 - 12 weeks for the Pep's and $1700 for 3. When we built our YZF we had Pep's on order for 8 weeks, called and wanted to know when they where coming, 6 more weeks  Had the Axis in two weeks for $1850

That's cool man, but if you want heavy duty a-arms i'll tell ya who to talk to. I personally know about 10 guys who run PCP offroad/ATV Racing a-arms, and none of them have had problems. I've ridden a 400ex with full custom axis LT and it felt sweet too. Rudy is a good guy, but I'm not fond of LSR's a-arm, but if that's how you want to spend your money, go for it. I can probably get the PEP's cheaper than that too. But if you wanna go with DFR, go for it, but have fun waiting 4-5 months for your shocks.

Paul400ex2002
05-22-2003, 02:58 PM
just curious, but what else are you getting?

05-22-2003, 08:01 PM
what 10 guy's that you know running PCP/ATV Racing A-arms and TCS shocks that are winning any races anywhere?? There must be a reason why you can get these off brand parts quick and cheap. Its because experienced riders know what works and wins races, nobody wants these off brand parts cause they don't work well enough, Racers want the parts that will get them first not fifth. That's why everyone wants the proven parts and are willing to wait. If others are winning on PEP/Axis/LSR why can't anyone else.

See you at the track Paul.

I'd have to agree on that - if winning is important to them, people are willing to wait for the products they know won't leave them stranded somewhere between start and finish. I have heard nothing but great things about AXIS and PEPs, so if money is no object then spend away! We got our AXIS in about 5 weeks - and the people there were really nice to talk with/work with. I don't have any personal experience with PEP, but I hear good things about them, so......have fun with whatever you decide!;)

Bull****. What the heck are you talking about? Bull****. Im just trying to find out what the best and greatest shock is. Shut your mouth.

Dave400ex

PEP LT and Laeger T-Pin is what I would get. PEP and Walsh would be my second choice. Nothing really compares to those two.

If ya want the best it is hard to compare anything to the Laeger Protrax with either PEP or Axis Shocks....

Who the hell is DFR? What do you make thats so great that you are king of the world now? I have never heard of PCP/ATV Racing A-Arms, but I know that TCS makes an AWESOME shock.

rudy i'm not saying that stuff isn't good, cause it's probably some of the best. But the price of some of that stuff is outrageous.

its dissapointing to see that no one has mentioned or recomended ELKAS. Doug Gust just smoked everyone in blountville and guess what he runs...............................ELKAS!!! Give ELKAS a shot, there just as good if not better than any shock out there. They look the best too :D

here are the tcs zps regular travel i used to run and they were awesome compared to the ol' works or stockers. i had no problems with them and thought they performed well.

here are the elka piggyback quad rate dual adjust lt shocks i run now and they blow any other shock i have ever ridden on outta the water. i am very very peased with my elkas and i think they are the up and comming. so... yeah go with elkas!!!

mopar 400
05-28-2003, 08:13 PM
I would have to agree, the Elkas are sweet. I have ridden on the Axis, Pep, and TCs shock and can say the Elkas rank right up there with them. Look what Roll Design is now running! Elka! I think with the wait in mind and the performance Elkas will suit anyone fine.

Ok I have few things to say:

1. Paul stop acting like you can get everyone a kicka** deal on everything, you can't. You get the deals the same way I get mine I know the people who own/run the shop.

2. DFR is Dirt Fink Racing, it is Rudy Gonzales' shop, you may or may not have heard of him....

3.norris, did you get the sum of $$ they way i think you did?

4. get what you want, seems to be between axis, pep or elka

5. PCP/offroad is a local shop and they build specialie in desert racing stuff for the most part. Rember that z400 that got smashed to h@!! by a truck...well they're building that guys race quad.........
