Ok, i'll build a race track (about 1.3 miles long), but really i dont know about the jumps (angle, length , height, etc.) and the table tops, or the whoops.
Its gonna be for non pros, so i want to make a safe track but some thing no too boring.
Any tips are welcome.
(I have all the equipment to do it)

Thank you a lot

for a safer approach i would go with alot of table tops. range them from short ones to taller more distant ones. make some smaller doubles. you can always tear down dirt and build something else. but those are your best ways for a safe way.

1) Making the jumps on the smaller side with landings that you would not get injured in case you did not clear them.
2) Put the jumps well in front of the berm so the rider can easily pick up the right speed.
3) Dont make the jumps consecutive incase one jump gets screwy so they dont **** up.
4) Make the track wide enough for several bikes.
5) Create a waver form incase someone dumps that you would not get sued.

These are just some I could think of off the top of my head, but good luck building your track and have fun!:blah

As for the degree and lip, with building the jump, build it a little steeper than you normally would, that way when it gets packed in it still has a descant lip to it. As for the degrees, just go experiment and see how far you go. THere is no formula, you just have to take into consideration how fast you might be going on the track, hit the jump, and then make a landing approximately there usually works out alright.

Just curios, when you said you had the proper tools, are you using tractors or shovels?:huh Building over a mile of track with a shovel would be a nightmare and would suck hairy monkey *** !

I would definately assume he has machines! For your jumps, what usually works is, if you pile the dirt and not pack it real well, then look at it from the side and you can get a basic idea of the angle you want that will shot you as high and far as you want :D Good luck with the track!

I am trying to build a jump with a shovel and a wheel barrel and I been out there for 2 days after work and I still aint done yet.!!I'd get a bobcat if I could afford $150 a day. I'd like to get a dump truck to come in and dump about 6 loads and the jumps would be half built already!

about the machines, i have a D-6, motor grader, hidraulic excavator, 50 dump trucks of dirt and people to do it, , so i guess it wont be a problem. We start the proyect next tuesday, i'll keep you inform about all.

Thank you all for the inputs.

$150 a day for a bobcat? i would jump all over that.
i beleave around here it is by the hour, i forget how much though. when i was thinking about renting one, it was outrageous.
good luck with the track and have fun with it, dont get discouraged too soon.
