I think almost all pipes are good for the 300ex except for the cobra and DG. I am going to order a pipe for my 300ex this week and i am getting the supertrapp IDS2. I am getting it from FST. It only costs $229 for the complete exhaust unlike close to $400 for the WB exhaust. I am getting it from FST because its cheaper than Rocky Mountain. I am getting this pipe because it gives good powergains and i don't plan on having the 300ex for very long because i should be getting a 400ex once i get a garage and don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

I give $260 for my white brother's and I have a supertrapp headpipe on it.( It has to be modded to do this);)

A Curtis Sparks or TC Racing Pipe would also be very good.

go with lrd or graydon proline, get a full system, the header stock is small in diameter, also make sure you get a k&N air filter to match and a aftermarket cdi or it will be a wasted investment in power, and you should run like a 128main,with a 42 pilot if you get the k&n,i put all my stuff on today, good amount of power and throttle response gained,i went with the fmf megamax, paid 189.00 for it,but that is cause i pay dealer cost

DannyDone just got a MegaMax 2 on his 300ex. He had nothing but good stuff to say about it. He was very happy with the Power increase.

yeah,i like it,not the best pipe, but it does its job,not to load,is tuneable, and provides a good power curve if matched with a k&N-lid on,128main,42 pilot and a aftermarket cdi.if you dont care how noisey it is then get a prociruit full system..

If noise is not a Problem get the Complete TC Racing Pipe. I am very happy with mine on my 400EX. I`m sure you would be happy with it on your 300EX too.

tc is loud, what it actually is-super strapp with tc logo..it is a full performance pipe, full flow exhust..good pipe for xc,or mxing

Yeah TC mods it some. He makes his End Cap for it.

so you can tune it,thats cool,it is like the megamax in a way,but is more of a reverse megaphone then fmf canister

I wouldn't get a exhaust. They are all sound. You will gain at most 1 HP form a whole exhaust and its not worth it to spend 300 or 400 dollars. I would get it bored or something Maybe get a new air filter and jet kit? or get a skid plate? There are alot of choices you can chose from and getting an exhaust isnt the right way to go.

i dont care if it is only a 1 hp gain but with a K&N filter and jet kit it has an amazing FEEL of power increase i dont care if it is a .2 horse power gain as long as it is noticeable and a good quality
no flame intended

what you have been hearing about exhaust not giving noticable gains is for the 400ex. the 300ex suffers from a very restrictive headpipe/silencer. If you do any other mods to the engine without the silencer/pipe you will be missing lots of power.

Get a Complete Pipe, K&N Air Filter, Outerwear, and Re-Jet. I have a 400EX and I love it now with my TC Pipe. I don`t know if I picked up any peak horsepower. I don`t care if I did. I wanted bottom end and it has it now. You will like it a lot more after you get a Pipe.

01-04-2002, 07:57 PM
yeah the more air you let go into that ex that more power you get, junk the carb, intake boot,air-lid,match manifold etc..for more h.p

01-04-2002, 09:32 PM
go with dg or biggun they will give you most power. you wanna know all the specs go buy a dirtwheels mag.

01-05-2002, 08:18 AM
i had my 300ex one day then i took it back and got a white bro pro meg and a uni.
i cant tell u if it made a difference or not cause i added a 14tooth sproket and it dont seem like i lost any bottom end but i could have i am not for sure.

i know when u gain a tooth. u gain more speed. and lose bottom end... but since i got the pipe i dont know if i am equal now or not. but i can say for the most part i am even.

i think a pipe is good for is if you wanna run taller gearing. or less you have motor mods or something.

if you get a complete system, you will have a lot more hp than 1-2. you could probably get arournd 4-7 hp depending on which system. I am guessing that my megamax 2 system gave me about 6-8 more hp. I probably have arounf 29-30 hp now with the k&n power kit and the pipe. Also, try a bigger front sprocket, 14 tooth. those are supposed to be nice. I dont have one, but plan on getting one.

my dealer told me that the pro meg system from white bro. said that it gives me hp between 4.5 and 7 horse power.

but if that is true i would recomend anybody getting a white brothers pipe

but dont get the s bend

or the r4 i have heard alot of bad stuff about them.

and that the e series gives more power also.

A CT Racing pipe give almost 12 hp on a raptor.....Most pipes give 2-4hp ...... pipes are a very good investment
