i just got my works shocks for me 250r a-arms on my 300 thay are WAY to stiff. even for me on the track the only time i loved them was on the woops the cornering was terable it don't handle the way it did stock i can hit jumps wide open but what good is that.if can't corner? is there any way to soften them up?with that valve on the ress.? i am realy thinking about putting the stockers back on it is that bad.thay are for a banshee but they are 14 1/2 in. long so is that not the right lenth or is it just the banshee angle is to diff.? any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You need to get them revalved.

The problem is not the shocks, it the geometry (SP) The 300 steering stem is located in a different spot where it mounts to the frame than it is on a 400/250R. Yes, everything will bolt up but this is not the correct way to do it.
We are in the process of building Dave Macarroll (sport class champ) a new 300 using 300ex LSR +2 arms and 400ex Elka shocks with a bolt on upper shock mount. This will keep the geometry (SP) were it is supposed to be.

I would put it back to stock. I have not seen a 250R or 400EX A-arms setup on a 300EX yet that works correctly. There are three major variables for the 250R, 400EX and 300EX that are different: A-arm ball joint angles, Steering stem locations on the frame and tie-rod plate configurations (Height of plate, distance from the center of stem to tie-rods holes, distance between left and right tie-rod holes, angle), and finally the spindles on all three models are different. When you start mixing these parts up depending on what parts you use, you will get a very darty quad or a quad that hardly turns - this is the most noticable.

I know several memebers have similar setups and I am not telling you that it will not work - because it does to an extent. I have just not seen a 300EX yet with this setup that will work better with this setup than a 300EX with aftermarket +2" 300EX A-arms & shocks..

Here's one that works very well. It is just a little darty but you get used to it pretty quick. I like it much better than stock. My shocks ended up 14.75"

i have only had it on thr track twice since i did this. i can't hold it open all the way through the turns like i did with the front rims fliped.can anyone tell me if i can use the shock relocation mount with 14 1/2 in shocks. i got to have this problem fixed by 6/1 race.

How did you describe your riding when you called to order your shocks? Did you say A class or something like that?:)

Say the level that you actually are, don't say your an A rider if you really a B rider. I think alot of people do this and then complain they are too stiff.

I just told him that I trail ride. I'm not a big jumper but I've done small leaps and it felt great to me. It also seems to corner better than before. I've never felt that I was able to pin it through the corners.

i work at a dealer so i got them though parts unlimited but i got on here and ask how long thay had to be to do the a-arm conversion. and then went to work and found the right lenth on a banshee and a friend told me that i wanted stiffer then my weight for MX. so i got the MX,aggressive, recreational the listing was.so that was what i ordered now i got the bushings milled down to fit in the frame.and a set of shocks that i hate.MY NEXT QUESTION IS do thay brake in after more use and maybe soften up some.or should i buy the shock relocation mount for the 400ex shocks on a 300ex

Your problem is not the shock length but in the valving. I ordered mine directly from Works and had them set up for my weight and riding style. Banshee shocks would be stiff on a 300 because a banshee weighs like 100lbs. more. I'd send them to works to be revalved. Otherwise even your stock 300 shocks will do better.
