thats about where id put it if its built right.

most esr and ct 310's are running 54 hp.

how much would a 330 kit set you back?

a 330 bolt on kit from ESR is 950, and you can simply bolt it on, no case machinging.

they also offer a 330 kit which requires case machinging, but will also allow you more overbores on the cylinder, thus making it a longer investment.

check them out at www.esr250.com for Much more info

the 330 kit requires long rod.86 does not have it.

yep, but that can be settled and worked out pretty easily to run a 330

u know u dont need that much rwhp........................45 is more than enuff on a track or trail................ horsepower isnt everything...............ride one and learn how to ride it fast before u spend 4g's on the engine but still on stock shocks............. :eek2: mod suspension first then engine cause a stock chassis componets peice cant handle that much power........;)

remember the golden rule: "too much horsepower is barely adequate" ;)
The good thing about big bore R's is that torque usually isn't a problem. Sure you don't have as much bottom as a 4 stroke but you have more than a stock R which works pretty good on trails.
One thing you might as well factor into your budget right now is a longer swingarm to keep the front end down!

Now I don't claim to know alot about 2 strokes but my brother in law has a 88 250r with an ESR bolt on 330 kit and he says that if had it to do over again he wouldn't go bigger than a 310. Just thought I would put my .02 in. He also just bought a Lonestar +7 swingarm for it.

I don't know. After he gets the swingarm on it is strictly going to be drag bike and he will ride either his other 250r or his 400ex.

If your trail riding, I agree with the post above. Get some suspension 1st. I have riden bikes with horsepower and stock shocks and they heat up quick and its a pogo stick. Than you cant use the horsepower. Spend some money on the Arms and shocks and you wont be disappointed. Than put that big bore in there. The suspension I have works very good for what it is. I need a little better though and will be investing in a Roll front end or Laegers Pro Trax, havent made up my mind yet. Than I will think about getting a big bore.

60hp is eye-watering fast, and on a two stroke it can tire you out very quickly if you have a sharp powerband.

I would definitly recomend the powervalve, even though it's more expensive, it give you good peak power without the "light switch" feel that can tire you out very quickly.

The last thing in the world you want to do is spend all the money and not be completely satisfied. For some people, 60hp may be too much, especially if you are riding in the woods or tight trails. For other people, an ESR310 might not be enough, epecially if you are drag-racing your friends in the sand dunes.

To keep your options open, get on the phone and talk with some experts. You can get replacement domes that will increase or decrease your compression, giving you more or less power. Just because an engine CAN make 60hp, doesn't mean it has to. You can run a low-compression dome at 45hp for casual trail-riding, then spend an hour changing to a high-comp dome and race gas for the full 60hp when you head to the dunes. It's possible, with a little work, to have the best of both worlds...

The biggest difference you'll notice lies in who ported the motor. I've seen 310's eat 330's and 350's because they had a better port job.
Powervalves are cool, although I doubt you'd really need one unless you do a ton of trail riding. My 350 has more bottom end than stock even though it's got a full race port for top end. ESR has some pretty good prices on PV motors now and they do a good job at porting.

yeah, i started beating a few shees my last trip now that ive gotten better at the rider portion of dragging, now if i just get my esr310 ported mid-top, they will get a bit more trouble when racing me...:D

never enough USEABLE hp:macho

I agree completely. For drag racing, the PV isn't going to give you any advantage, but it will make a world of difference on the trails and MX track.

wilkin,...did you get one yet?
