well, I'm looking to sink some money in my 2000 400ex. However, I don't want to spend a lot of $ if a new quad is comming out pretty soon. Has anyone heard of a 450ex or 650ex comming soon, or should I just give up like the rest of you have?

I'm kinda in the same boat. I'm really hurting for more power but don't wanna waste any more money than I have on the motor if I may do a motor swap in the next few years.

I'd rather get a aftermarket rear end (rpm swingarm, rpm axle, carrier) and then put my front shocks on my dads quad and go w/ a long travel front end and after that get the arens frame that can use either the crf or 400ex motor and by the time i'd have that I could pry get a good used crf motor for a decent price. Sept i'll be like 20 by the time I have all that working non-stop. At least i'll have one bad_arse machine.

From what I hear (via a very reliable source) the new Honda sport quad will not be out for at least another year and will be a seriously detuned 450 (no surprise there). I obviously don't have any hard facts (no one does) but this source has been right on many other ATV related stories in the past and I have no reason to doubt it now. I saw go ahead and build up your 400ex :)

We'll see what the ol' 463 will do - I'd say close to 50hp with the combo we are going to run. I'll stick it on a dyno and post the results this summer.

Good luck with that man!! My 440 is so fast! That quad your building is going to RIP!!!I hope you dont have any engine problems:ermm: I have only had one problem and that is that I blew my head gasket the 8th day I had it...I had about 4 1/2 tanks of gas through it and I was finally starting to go more than just half throttle and somehow it got messed up in the break in so i had to get that fixed and I am still working on getting my CFR carb tunned in juuust right.... I am taking it to Bullet motor sports sometime this week...there is a big dead spot when you give it gas and the idle is turned up all the way so we are going to have to change the jets in it I think....Good luckwith your project! I wish I could ride it after you finish it!;)
