19 people injured in one van...

This happened yesterday about 10 minutes from me...i was listen' on the scanner, and the IC(incident commander) was screaming on the radio for 11 more ambulances(2 or 3 already there):eek2: :eek:

LISBON TOWNSHIP — Nineteen people were injured Wednesday evening when a large passenger van rolled onto its top while trying to avoid another vehicle at Route 47 and Newark Road, Yorkville police said.

Police reported no life-threatening injuries in the accident, which occurred at 5:48 p.m. The driver of the van had attempted to swerve out of the way of a slowly-turning car in front of the van when it tipped over onto its roof, police said.

The Bristol Kendall Fire Department arrived soon after the crash, finding all 19 people out of the van and complaining of minor injuries. Eventually, ambulances from seven fire protection districts, including Oswego, Sandwich, Morris, Newark, Little Rock, Fox and Somonauk, came to transport patients.

Assistant Fire Chief Timothy Fairfield said six people were transported to Morris Community Hospital; four each to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora and Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich; three to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center; and two to Provena Mercy Center in Aurora.

All of the hospitals involved confirmed there were no life-threatening injuries for any of their patients, though each declined to identify the victims.

Morris Community Hospital released one patient Wednesday night and had four in fair and one in serious condition as of 10 p.m., a nursing supervisor said.

Police said they expect to release more information on the accident today.

bascially a car was pulling out too slow or something in front of the van, and then driver of the van swereved to avoid hitting the car, and the van ended up rolling over a couple times:(

If the van struck another vehicle, then it would make sense of 19 ppl dieing, dont ya think;) , but its too bad that happened:(

luckily, noone died, only minor injuries...turns out the driver of the van was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving too fast for conditions, and also for no insurance:scary:
