harder to turn on with no lid?

I just installed a Pro circuit slip on and a K&N Filter on my 400 running with the airbox lid off. I jetted it to dyno jets specs and now it gives me a hard time to get it to turn on. Could the lid be the problem or the tunning of the carb?

did you adjust the air screw? something is too lean

Do you mean it's harder to start? Try bumping up the pilot jet. You shouldn't have trouble trying to start it with or with out the lid.
