I use an OMF seat latch. It is very secure and you'd have to break a few bolts to get it to come loose. My only complaint is that since it uses two spin-on knobs to hold the seat/rear fenders on, it takes more time to get it loose than some of the other latches that use clips.

Yeah I run the same OMF seat latch. It works great and I couldn't imagine it ever coming off, but it does get to be a pain to spin on and off those knobs.

I bought my OMF seat latch from Nac's about a year and a half ago when I was ordering some other parts. Also, I think C&D Racing carries OMF products. C&D is a board sponsor, so you might want to check out their prices too (their ad is running at the top of this page).

I went and checked one of my old Nac's catalogs just to be sure, and the R and EX have different part numbers. Also, the 86-87 R has a different part number than the 88-89 R.

i kinda figured there would be a difference dang it !! i knew about there being a difference in 86-87 88-89 cause i bought an arens chassis it uses all the 88-89 stuff so it made me have to buy extra stuff

I cut out a piece of .095 flat 4130 in the same shape as the stock latch base, then welded in two 1/2" X 2" clevis pins with multiple holes. The clevis pins drop though the seat rubbers and you use cotter pins and fender washers underneath. This SOB is NEVER going to come loose! You could make the same thing using aluminum.... I just used 4130 because that's what I had around.

I like the OMF style latches, but when you're in a hurry, they're too much of a pain in the ACE to get off!
