What size socket do I use to remove the spark plug on my 400ex?

I think you're going to have to have the factory spark plug tool because of the head design around the plug. Just last week, I thought for sure a socket would fit when the tank and heat shield were out of the way.... I was wrong.

try a 4mm. it will fit, trust me.

He got it,....turns out his old man had a socket out of his good 'ol Bayou220 that worked! :D

i used a THIN walled 18mm and it worked after i ran around town lookin for one the whole night.

I wanted to post this question a few weeks ago but figured you guys would make fun of me. Turns out the spark plug was loose and I took it out by hand. It's an 18mm, but it's a tight fit for the socket to fit in there.

Just go somewhere &get a cheap 6-point 18mm socket & grind it down. Problem solved.
Make sure it's a 6-point
