i have read almost all of the messages about the 416 vs 440 topic's on this message board and i have decided to go with the 416. what i am wondering is what piston to use. Ross, JE, Wisceo...? i always thought that wisceo was about the best and lightest that a person could get, but after reading a few post on this site, the ross and JE pistons sound better. and also what about the carb, with the 416 will my stock carb (after jetting) work fine for a while until i get a 39 FCR. And any other tips or help that you all can give me about the 416 will be helpful.

thanks

I just went from the wiseco 440 to the ross 416 the ross 416 has awesome throttle response compared to the 440 kit because the piston is lighter and I am using my stock carb and it runs great.

I would choose the Ross or JE both very good pistons just the ross is a little bit lighter.. which means would rev faster.. and you can use your stock carb with no problems..

Both the Ross and JE pistons are 10.8:1 compression in the 415. You can also get the JE in 12:1 in the 415 (416) bore. They are both great pistons, but the Ross is considerably lighter.

Most machine shops will do that for you if they are boring out your jug. It cost me $40.00 to have mine bored and the rings fitted.

should practice the motto measure twice assemble once even though most machine shops do check the ring gaps i would always double check you never know when they could have goofed cause it does happen plus it's nothing to do it, any monkey could i myself always check the bore taper and the ring gap when i assemble a motor it makes you feel better knowing that the motor is goin together right and you won't have to worry about ripping it apart because of a machinists goofup so yes it is a good habbit to practice measuring your ring gaps
