Hey fellas,

Dune Surfer and I were BS'in last weekend while taking apart the 400 for a re-build and he was saying something about being able to buy a small automotive radiator and replace the stocker on the 400ex. Bigger area for the oil to cool before going back into the engine. The part that Tinner makes scoops for...any one ever hear/do this? How would I go about looking into this?

NOTE: this is not the smaller unit that FST sells that mounts between the shock rezzies.

I guess the biggest thing is make sure that you do not have to much surface that you loose oil pressure and keep in mind that you would have to adjust oil levels because it would obviously take more oil.

I am checking now on this, someone has told me about one that holds 1/4 quart more oil and cools 20-40 degrees. I will let you know as soon as I get mine.

:huh ...Hmmm, didn't think of that one...
wouldn't you lose pressure the same way if you had 2 similiar sized oil coolers???

True. I guess the biggest part would be to keep the tubes around the same diamiter so that the pump is not moving to much volume of oil.

The good thing about the one from the guy that make the secondary's is they have a buisness and if things go wrong at least you have someone to cuss and yell at and if they stick ya you could flash a couple of green backs in monkyboy's and cuz's face and tell them they can have it if they kikkem in da dirt regoood

instead of the drilling and tapping for the one of fst it would be nice if someone could make one that is a direct swap.

has anyone ever tried to see if additional rows can be added to the stock ?It looks likt they just stack up on themself.

Does mickey dunlap come here anymore? maybe he could answer this question.

I was talking about a small transmission cooler

The secondary units which tap into the motor to bypass the oil circuit that flows up along the side of the cylinder, that's where the cam/top end oil gets heated up from. A larger/more efficient stock replacement cooler doesn't eliminate that problem. Even just an external line would be a big help.

Hook, Sorry - just noticed your post. 178 main, 52 pilot, clip one down from center - I'm at work now so I'll double check those later. Here's a link with some tuning help:
