Is anyone running the JRD swingarm for the 400ex that looks like the roll lobo 2 swing arm?(see pic below if you don't now what i am talking about). i talked to forum tonight and gave me jrd website and i saw the swing arms, at first i thought they were for lt shocks, but he told me they lower the rear end... so i was wondering what are the pros and cons on this swing arm compared to the regular no cuvered ones??

Also i would like some more info on their a arms? how do they compared against walsh and gibson??

thanks

I seen the swingarm and thought it looked weak. I don't think it loos any thing like a roll design swinger.

I too don't think it looks like a roll.
They are NOT weak at all. There are quite a few "A" and Pro Am national riders that use JRD Stuff and it holds up great. have see all of the stuff in person and it is top notch.

maybe i was mistaken then... but i thought roll made swing arms like that at once...

that design probably works quite well in lowering the rear end of the 400ex... does any one some pics with it on the bike???

It is the same concept of the Roll. The gull wing rear end. Except the JRD uses round tubing. I have their front end and it is great.

Round tubing is stronger then square. I don't know if thats true when used for swingys but it sure is true for frames. and a arms. I was talking about the similarity in design not looks. My RP is round tubing and its holding its own.

does anyone know what + sizes they come in?

and that is a link set up right? do they make linkless? elka told me that they don't suggust running long travel rear shock, unless i run a link less set up... or else i will have to cut and weld the frame, i am going to do that any way, i will build it supppppppppppper strong so it won't crack or bend or break.

How well do their a-arms + swingarms hold up. How much lower does the rear end get for the Standard rear end swinger. I am working all summer to pay off my quad and to get a RPM axle, a-arms, and swinger. But I am stumped on what company to go with. I dont want to pay too much money, but I want it to last ? Do they have warranties on their products?

I have the JRD front end and love it, the only complaint i have is the heims squeek even if you oil them. When you first put the a-arms on it is incredibly stiff to steer, i mean i wouldnt even reccomend hitting a big jump till you get these things broke in. BUt the a-arms are awsome, i do *note* though that i had to grind on the shock mount so that my rebound could screw all the way down. As for those swing-arms ,iv talked to Joe at JRD alot about his stuff, the swing arms are no link. And i may be wrong but i dont think he carrys stuff for Z's yet, mainly 250r and 400ex stuff.

so that swing arm is a no link set up?? does he make them for the 400ex too?? i have been to busy to call lately becuase of school and all, exams are coming up soon...
that would be cool becuase then i can get my self the elka lt rear shock....

yep its no link. it rides nice too, yea he should have them for 400ex. I dont think they really call in longtravel though, but i do believe you get about 10 to 12 inches of rear wheel travel out of it. Which is nice. As far as im concerned about elkas they are *****. I got some longtravel fronts, and they squeek bad, leak oil out the top, and iv sent them back 3 times to have them set up right and their still frikken stiff. they work good if you hit big jumps like freestyle but in the whoops and breaking bumps they bout buck you off. Anybody wanna buy some 19" elkas?

400exBro
05-17-2003, 01:54 AM
how much for the fronts??? what are they set up for??

when did you buy them?? becuase, forum just got some elkas 19" elites and the only problem he had so far is that he told them the wrong kind a arms so that toatly screwd the valving... his long travel rear with 15" of travel works ssssssssooooooo awsome, soaks up every little bump, they weren't even dailed in yet...

the other thing is that no one else except for axis builds long travel rear shock, i talked to elka and they said they will build it for a little bit more then the regular travel... but it will still take 2 weeks to do...
ya i love huge jumps... you ever done a 60 foot table top on work shocks on the front and stock on the rear..?? it is a rough landing...

damn that looks like it is going to hurt...

nope never over shot the 60 footer yet, and i don't want to, i know something is going to go on my bike, and for it will be the rear shock and the swing arm...!! my rear shock is going to blow soon too, it has a lot of sag to it, and the preload adjust is all the way down...:eek2: o well she goes, i will be calling elka!!!
