Does adding an aftermarket exhaust shorten the life of the engine?
Are there any bad long or short- term affects?

I know they add power and sound good, but i dont wanna buy anything that im gonna regret.

NO you dont have to worry about it shortening your motors life. If anything your helping it by making it more efficient with it power. Thats my opinion:D

anything thats boosts power lowers engine life. because the rpms are climing faster dut to the extra power. But Its very minamal for things like pipes and stuff. go for it.

If you rejet the carb correctly, the pipe will have basically zero effect on long term reliability.

While the quicker reving could reduce engine life, one could also argue that the free flowing pipe could increase engine life since the exhaust flows freely and the motor doesn't have to work so hard to overcome the back-pressure. All in all, I think the pipe has very little to zero effect on engine life.

If it's a DG or a Supertrapp it will fall off somewhere on the trail saving you the time to take it off. ;)
