oil was leaking from my sprocket and shifter seals... so i bought new seals. my question is, i have to take the case off to put the seals in correct? also how hard is it? would i need any special tools? i have some motor knownledge... not much. should i bring it to a motor shop or just try it myself??

You don't have to take the cases off, Just take some pliers and pull the old seals out. Then clean surface thoroughly and push the new seals in evenly. Not complicated to do and it should only take 10mins.

you can use a seal puller, it looks like a hook and remove it with ease. Or you can drill a little hole in the seal and use a slide hammer with a screw attached to it and pop it out if its that hard to get out. Make sure you remove the collar that the seal rides on first. You can get the seal out also by using a screw driver in a prying action. The seal does go in that hard. To reinstall it you can use a deep wall socket that fits over the shaft and gently tap new seal in.

Good Luck Tants

take a wood or metal screw, screw it in til it has a frim grip but dont hurt nothing and then start to pull on it til the seal comes out, thats how i do it
